Luczak has been a fixture in the volleyball community for years having coached at various programs: University of Minnesota, the University of Notre Dame, Auburn University, Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and Macalester College. He took over at Kokoro over a decade ago and has been improving the level of play with each passing year.
With over 20 teams, there is a lot of talent at Kokoro. The largest group is in the 15’s age group. Many clubs often decide to not have 15’s level teams because they usually will play 16’s anyways, but Kokoro has so many at this age group. Here is a look at a handful of the top players on their 15’s level teams.
Katherine Arnason (15-1’s, 6′ middle – 2023) Mahtomedi High School
- one of two freshmen on the Mahtomedi varsity team
- played mostly right side for high school team
- strongest skill: blocking
Morgan Kealy (15-1’s, 5’10” setter – 2023) River Falls, WI
- totaled 500+ assists for the 2019 high school season
- shared setting duties with sister Maddi Kealy (sr.)
- strongest skills: setting & serving
Cameryn Peterson (15-1’s, 5’6” setter – 2023) Mahtomedi High School
- played varsity as a freshmen
- strong float serve
- strongest skill: leadership skills
Riley Sommers (15-2’s, 5’8” – 2024) Hudson, Wisconsin
- trained in strong program @ Hudson High School
- naturally athletic and still developing
- strongest skill: untapped potential
Rosa Maklad (15-2’s, 5’9” outside hitter – 2023) East Ridge High School
- played B-squad for East Ridge
- quick on defense
- strongest skill: cross-court swing
Alaina Peterson (15-4’s, 6′ middle hitter – 2023) Woodbury, MN
- contacts above the block
- great press over the net on block
- strongest skill: size and reach
Caroline Brekke (15-2’s, 5’10” middle hitter -2023) Stillwater
- played for a strong JV Stillwater team
- good foot speed along the net
- explosive approach
- strongest skill: physicality
