These four setters learned this lesson and had a great display while at the net during the 2019 season.
Kambel Fiser – West Seattle
Kambel Fiser is not the prototypical type of setter as she splits her time in the position with several minutes as a right sider for West Seattle. At 5’11”, she uses every inch of her height to be a factor at the net and it worked pretty well in 2019, when the junior managed to score 75 block points for her team, the second-best mark in the entire squad and good enough to rank her 14th in Washington – the best for a setter.
Lindsay Addink – Ephrata
Lindsay Addink was a revelation for Ephrata in 2019. In her second high school volleyball season, the setter became a key piece for the Tigers and substantially increased her playing time from six to 64 sets. That gave her the opportunity to make a huge impact at the net, as she averaged exactly one block per set to be the team’s second-best player in the skill.
Adele Holland – Puyallup
Adele Holland was Washington’s leader in assists (1,110) in 2019, but this wasn’t the only area of her game to stand out during her junior year at Puyallup. The 5’8” setter also had a good performance when facing hitters at the net for the Vikings as she registered the third-most block points (40) in the team, including 31 assisted blocks.
Danielle Faamausili – Steilacoom
Danielle Faamausili was a key player for Steilacoom during her sophomore season in their 2019 campaign. Besides of her outstanding ball distribution, Faamausili proved to be a tougher obstacle at the net than many of her opponents would think as the 5’9” setter managed to be the Sentinels’ third-best blocker and the state’s setter with the third-most blocks at 49.
