We can’t help but think about which teams will play the best volleyball and which players will set themselves apart from the competition when the balls are finally allowed to start flying. It’s way too early, I know, but here are my best guesses about who will make it to the All-State Team in the Class 1A next season.
Elly Collins – Outside Hitter – Senior – Chelan
Elly Collins is a safe bet considering she was already part of the All-State first team in 2019. The 5’8” outside hitter is a great all-around player, who excels in pretty much every aspect of the game for Chelan. Collins came up big in the State Championship final, registering 19 kills and 16 digs against King’s, and with Player of the Year Emma McLaren not returning after graduating she could be poised for an even more significant role in her senior season.
Brooke Silvernail – Outside Hitter – Senior – La Salle
Brooke Silvernail has already been there as well as she made it to the All-State team in each of her first three seasons with La Salle. She’s very sound technically and dominates all the skills needed to be an effective outside hitter. Her offense tends to lean towards quick sets which help her in hitting difficult angles at a very consistent rate.
Tiffany Chandler Tiffany Chandler 5'10" | OH La Center | 2021 State WA – Outside Hitter/Right Sider – Senior – La Center
Tiffany Chandler Tiffany Chandler 5'10" | OH La Center | 2021 State WA is a powerful and versatile hitter who carried La Center to success last season. The 5’9” player was a scoring machine in 2019, registering 354 kills, 28 aces and 18 blocks in the Wildcats’ campaign. An All-State second-team selection, she had the highlight of her season in a 45-point performance against Columbia in October.
Katie Rainville – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Chelan
Katie Rainville was one of five Chelan players to make it to the All-State first team in their championship-winning campaign in 2019. The 5’9” middle-blocker was a jack-of-all-trades for the Lady Goats as she contributed to the team’s title run in several different ways as she was an efficient hitter, blocker and server for Chelan.
Noelle Alberda – Middle-Blocker – Senior – King’s
Noelle Alberda’s performance was one of the reasons why King’s advanced all the way to the class’ State Championship match in 2019. A 5’11” middle-blocker, she made her presence felt at the net with good reading and impressive lateral speed to close up on blocks. She earned an All-State second-team selection last season and seems poised to take the next step in 2020.
Abby Cummins – Setter – Senior – King’s Way Christian
Since her first season with King’s Way Christian, Abby Cummins has excelled in her ball distribution. The 5’8” setter registered at least 400 assists in each of the three campaigns and provided reliable support for the Kinights’ offensive system. Her 504 assists led Cummins to an All-State second-team selection last season and with another year of experience under her belt she could give the team even more in the upcoming season.
Morgyn Harrison – Libero – Junior – Chelan
Morgyn Harrison was part of Chelan’s well-oiled engine that took home the State Championship title in 2019. A defensive wizard for the Lady Goats, the libero was instrumental in the final match of last year’s tournament when she registered 27 digs against King’s and that performance cemented her position in the All-State first team.
