First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
Next in line is the 1A Trico district, which has five high schools set to compete, and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Brooke Mattila – Middle-Blocker – Senior – King’s Way Christian
Brooke Mattila was one of King’s Way Christian’s most solid pieces in their undefeated district campaign in 2019. The 5’10” prospect ranked right behind senior outside hitter Dana Snider in kills with 168 and led the Knights in blocks with 47, as one would expect from a middle-blocker with her skills. She also contributed with 18 aces on her way to receive an All-State team honorable mention and to be one of three King’s Way Christian players in the All-League first team.
Ranae Holter – Setter – Senior – Castle Rock
Ranae Holter did a great job in guiding Castle Rock to an 8-2 district record and a State Championship appearance. The 5’7” took care of her main duties, setting her teammates up for points 107 times during the season, but also helped with nine aces and 20 digs. Her hard work and excellent play were rewarded with an All-State team honorable mention and a nomination for the All-League first team.
Aly Evanson – Libero – Junior – King’s Way Christian
Aly Evanson did really well on her first season as a starter for King’s Way Christian and slotted nicely in the team’s main defensive spot as a libero. The 5’2” defensive star led the teams in both digs (223) and passes (293), offering a reliable presence in the back row. Evanson’s strong game took her to the All-State team as an honorable mention nominee and secured her a spot at the All-League first team.
