First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
This time we’ll take a deeper look at the 1B Central Washington district, which has seven high schools set to compete, and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Gracie Bise – Setter – Senior – Wilson Creek
Gracie Bise is a natural volleyball talent, having spent time in basically every position with Wilson Creek. He’s at her absolute best when handed control of the team as a setter, a role she played magnificently well last season for the Devils, taking them to a sixth-place finish at the State Championship and earning an All-State team honorable mention. The 5’2” prospect has a nice touch on the ball, is courageous enough to set from anywhere on the court and complements those skills pretty well with a dangerous serve and good defensive technique.
Vanessa Ceniceros – Right Sider – Junior – Pateros
Vanessa Ceniceros was possibly Pateros’ best player in the team’s last year’s State Championship run, which ended prematurely with two losses and just one win. The 5’6” right sider was a reliable offensive option at the right side of the net and also added to the Nannies’ defensive volume with a solid all-around game. The complete package earned her an All-State team spot as an honorable mention.
Abby Hinen – Outside Hitter – Senior – Wilson Creek
Abby Hinen formed one of the strongest outside hitter combos of the district in 2019 with Marci Dowers. The 5’5” prospect excelled on her defensive game, upping balls at ease, but also provided some firepower to the Devils at the net with her smart shots and a wide variety of angles.
