First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
This time we’ll take a deeper look at the 1B Central Washington district, which has seven high schools set to compete, and their best three players are:
Anna Williams – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Pateros
Anna Williams has made a noticeable impact on Pateros’ volleyball team since she first joined the program, in 2017. It was no different last season, when her strong play at the net helped the Nannies remaining undefeated in the district with a 12-0 record and advancing to the State Championship. The 5’10” Williams has above-average athleticism due to the fact that she’s also a track and field student-athlete and she used it to her advantage last season, when her efficient game at the net took her to be an All-State second-team member.
Marci Dowers – Outside Hitter – Senior – Wilson Creek
Wilson Creek was the only team in the district to pose as a considerable threat to Pateros’ dominance and much of it was due to the fact that the Devils counted on Marci Dowers on their roster. The 5’7” outside hitter was a jack-of-all-trades for her team, combining a smart and efficient game at the net with solid backcourt skills and that mix took Wilson Creek way the way to a sixth-place finish at the State Championship and Dowers to receive an All-State team honorable mention.
Moira Lindner – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Riverside Christian
Moira Lindner was part of a strong middle-blocker duo with senior Connie Yallup that was hands down Riverside Christian’s main asset in 2019. The pair displayed a strong game at the net, which helped the Crusades winning half of their 12 district matches last season. At 5’10”, Lindner is big enough to be a force at the net once again for her team.
