First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
District 1B Northeast is set to be one of the most exciting and competitive ones in the state with as many as 14 high schools and their best three players are:
Bree Dawson – Outside Hitter – Senior – Selkirk
Bree Dawson was the main reason why Selkirk ended the 2019 season with a respectable 14-2 win record in the district. The 5’9” outside hitter delivered exceptionally well on her third season with the Rangers, consistently reaching 20 or so kills per match while also being a threat from the service line. Dawson’s progress is well-marked by her All-State team selections as after receiving an honorable mention in 2018 she moved up to the second team last year, when she was also an automatic inclusion in the All-League first team.
Mimi Isaak – Setter/Right Setter – Junior – Almira-Coulee-Hartline
Mimi Isaak’s versatility and solid all-around game played an important role in Almira-Coulee-Hartline’s successful 2019 season, one in which the Warriors not only entirely dominated the district with 12 wins and only set dropped, but also advanced all the way to finish third at the State Championship. The 5’8” prospect was a hybrid of setter and right setter for the team and did well in both areas, registering 316 assists, 70 kills, 43 aces, 34 blocks and 79 digs. Her solid performance earned her a spot in the All-League team as an honorable mention.
Eliza Stark – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Northport
Eliza Stark is the rare type of middle-blocker who can do it all on a volleyball court. Her 2019 campaign with Northport was a good example of that, as the 5’11” prospect had a career-year in basically every area of her game, registering 129 kills, 47 aces, 108 digs and 129 passes – her blocking total was a respectable 23. Such a complete game helped Stark finding her way to the All-League first team.
