First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The first District we take a look at in the 2A class is CWAC, which is home to seven high schools and their three best players are:
Abby Harrell – Outside Hitter – Sophomore – Ellensburg
Abby Harrell had a veteran Ellensburg roster by her side on her first year of high school volleyball and she leveraged from their experience to have a stellar freshman season. The 5’9” outside hitter was an All-State and All-League first-team selection due to her ability to combine a solid offensive game, highlighted by 277 kills, 49 blocks and 28 aces, with an efficient defensive effort, which generated 224 digs and 351 passes to the State Championship runner-up Bulldogs.
Taylor Kieser – Right Sider / Setter – Sophomore – Selah
Taylor Kieser brought a lot to Selah in her first year of high school volleyball and helped the Vikings win 12 of their 14 matches in the district and finish eighth at the State Championship. As a left-handed, Kieser is a natural fit on the right side and while her 5’10” frame makes of her a great hitter, her great touch gives her the ability to play as a setter as well. She was mostly used as an offensive weapon in 2019 and that took her to the All-State team as an honorable mention and to the All-League first team.
Reaghan Naboychik – Outside Hitter – Junior – Ellensburg
A key for Ellensburg’s successful 2019 season was its strong outside hitter duo of Harrell and Reaghan Naboychik. The 5’8” Naboychik was the Bulldogs’ primary offensive option, ending the season with a team-high 282 kills as was also solid as a blocker, registering 32 stuffs at the net. Her great play took her to the All-State second team and inserted her in the All-League roster as a first-team nomination.
