Lena Bailey – 5’9” – MB – Class of 2023 – Tampa Catholic High School
Lena Bailey is a competitive middle blocker on Tampa Catholic’s Varsity Volleyball team. Although she is only a Sophomore, Lena has demonstrated in her two years on the varsity team that she is a highly talented player. Her career stats include a .304 hitting percentage and nearly 30 total blocks in the 52 sets played. Despite being shorter than most middles, she is capable of jumping higher than most players and getting her hands on every ball over the net. She is an integral part of her team’s defense in that her hands are slowing down nearly every attack; even if she is not completely shutting down every hit with her block, she is allowing her team a better chance of recovering a hard attack. Her jump height also allows Lena to hit straight down, just short of the opposite team’s defense. Lena doesn’t lead her team in most kills, but in watching her play, it is clear that she leads her team through her effort and passion on the court.

She has big, powerful swings from the outside position, and is very successful in her cross-court attacks. St. Pete ranked 35th in Florida this season, and it is safe to say that Jordan was part of the reason for their success this year.
