First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 2A KingCo District features seven high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Raelyn Lowery – Setter – Senior – Highline
Raelyn Lowery’s last season performance added to the cause that good setters can do a lot for their teams. The 5’8” prospect did a tremendous job with the ball at her hands, dishing out 191 assists, but that was just a fraction of her contributions to Highline. A skillful server, Lowery registered 54 aces for the Pirates, but also added a team’s second-best 62 kills, ten blocks and 44 digs. Such a complete game led Lowery to the All-State as an honorable mention.
Ausaga Henry – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Foster
Ausaga Henry was the centerpiece of Foster’s system in 2019. The 5’11”middle-blocker was instrumental to the Bulldogs’ success, contributing to the team in more ways than you would expect from a player of her position. Henry led the team in kills (114), blocks (39) and digs (44), ranked second in aces (45) and third in passes (125), showing a well-refined all-around game.
Asmi Sathaye – Libero/Setter – Junior – Sammamish
Asmi Sathaye’s main assets as a volleyball player are her superior technical skills, which allow her to play efficiently as either a libero or a setter. In either position, the 5’6” prospect brings a clean and flawless game to Sammamish, making of her a very reliable and consistent player. She can also serve the ball well, as she showed in 2019, when she registered 27 aces for the Totems.
