First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 2A Olympic District features seven high schools and their three best players are:
Riley Rabedeaux – Outside Hitter – Senior – North Kitsap
Riley Rabedeaux is one of the most powerful players in the entire division. Standing at 5’11” and privileged by great leaping ability, the North Kitsap prospect can be unstoppable at the net at times. Besides her size, reach and heavy arm, Rabedeaux also owns a well-diversified offensive game, making it very difficult to game plan against her. She ended the season with 400 kills, 468 digs and 37 aces to her name and her strong play led her to receive an All-State team honorable mention in 2019 and earned her a spot in the All-League first team.
Morgan Halady – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Kingston
It’s hard not to notice Morgan Halady’s presence at the net. The 6’1” Kingston middle-blocker stands out not only by her size, but also because she’s very active and has great technique. The hard-working Halady was a rock for the Buccaneers in 2019, when she registered 220 kills, 43 blocks and 43 digs for the team. The strong performance had her as part of the All-State team as an honorable mention and secured her inclusion in the All-League first team, both for a second-straight season.
Morgan Shumaker – Middle-Blocker – Senior – North Mason
Morgan Shumaker was an important piece of North Mason’s team that had a strong showing in the district last year, winning nine of its 12 matches. The 5’7” prospect is the kind of middle-blocker that can do it all in the court, from consistently registering kills at the net and providing a strong blocking presence to causing damage from the service line and helping on defense. Her all-around game earned her an All-State team honorable mention and a spot in the All-League first team.
