First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The West portion of the 2B Eastern Washington Athletic Conference (EWAC) district features seven high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Amelia Mohn – Defensive Specialist – Senior – Kittitas/Thorp
Amelia Mohn was a defensive machine for Kittitas/Thorp during the 2019 season. The 5’5” backcourt specialist lived up to the expectations and led the team’s defensive efforts in a strong way. Mohn ranked second in both digs (235) and passes (265) and also added a second-best 44 aces to her name.
Hannah Rainwater – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Cle Elum-Roslyn
Hannah Rainwater showed in 2019 she’s reached a good level in the two main skills for a middle-blocker. The 5’9” prospect led Cle Elum-Roslyn in blocks with 27 and ranked third among the team’s main hitters with 40 kills. Rainwater has also interesting physical tools, including a good leaping ability, and is very technical on her moves.
Lovey VanPelt – Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist – Junior – White Swan
The strength in Lovey VanPelt’s game resides in the backcourt. The 5’7” prospect can be used as an outside hitter or defensive specialist, but due to her great technique, she gets to make a difference for White Swan by digging balls. Last season, VanPelt, who’s also a basketball and softball student-athlete with the Cougars, led her team in that department with 34.
