First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 3A KingCo district has seven high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Lauren Riffe – Outside Hitter/Opposite – Junior – Interlake
Lauren Riffe had a stellar sophomore season with Interlake, earning an All-League team honorable mention along the way. The outside hitter displayed an efficient game at the net, pairing her 5’9” frame with a high level of creativity to find solutions and score points for the Saints. She registered a team-high 206 kills and also helped in other departments with 18 aces, 66 digs and 164 passes.
Kaitlyn Watson – Middle-Blocker – Junior – Bellevue
Kaitlyn Watson had a promising 2019 campaign with Bellevue and was one of the reasons the team won ten of its 12 district matches. The 5’10” middle-blocker was dominant at the net, being the team’s second-best blocker with 24. Offensively, she displayed a good leaping ability and a great wrist technique which allowed her to hit the ball straight down, making life difficult for defenders – she registered 96 kills for the Wolverines. For that production, Watson was included in the All-League second team.
Bianca Greydinger – Libero – Senior – Interlake
Bianca Greydinger was a defensive stud for Interlake last season. The 5’5” defender did a fantastic job in leading the Saints’ backcourt efforts and helped the team finishing the team with a 7-5 positive record and advancing to the State Championship. Greydinger led her team in both digs (271) and passes (439). She was at her absolute best in a match against Bellevue in which she dug 30 balls and passed another 30.
