First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 3A KingCo district has seven high schools, and their three best players are:
Mia Vong – Setter – Senior – Bellevue
Mia Vong is a complete setter, who brings a lot more to the table every time she steps on a court for Bellevue. The 5’7” prospect has great hands, which led her to register impressive 207 assists for the Wolverines in 2019, but she also has the talent to contribute in other areas of the game as she did last season, tallying 78 kills, 43 aces and 108 digs. Her solid all-around game took her to the All-League first-team.
Elise Hani – Middle-Blocker/Right Sider – Junior – Lake Washington
It’s easy to identify Elise Hani’s main asset as a volleyball player just by looking at her – her 6’4” frame. The Lake Washington prospect does a great in maximizing the benefits of her height by displaying good technique when hitting, what makes of her nearly unstoppable at the net, and a well-developed reading of the game, improving her blocking capabilities. That was evident in 2019, when she had 114 and 37 blocks for the Kangaroos, securing a spot in the All-League first team.
Kaya Vong – Outside Hitter/Middle-Blocker – Junior – Liberty
Kaya Vong’s versatility proved to be a great asset for Liberty in 2019. The 5’10” prospect was the team’s go-to scoring option and her ability to hit the ball from the middle or the pin allowed the Patriots to run a well-diversified offense during the season. A very skilled player, Wong also produced significantly at the net with her blocking and from the service line besides being a capable defender. She earned an All-League first-team selection for her play.
