First, we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The 3A Metro district is one of the largest in the entire state with as many as 17 high schools and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Kambel Fiser – Setter/Right Sider – Senior – West Seattle
Kambel Fiser was a versatile and efficient player for West Seattle in 2019. Doubling up as the team’s setter and right sider, she excelled in both positions providing the team invaluable contributions in a variety of ways. The 5’11” Fiser was West Seattle’s leader in both assists (446) and kills (159) and also registered significant numbers in other skills, including 80 aces, 75 blocks and 299 digs. That production earned her an All-League first-team selection.
Sidney Patterson – Middle-Blocker – Senior – Chief Sealth
Blocking was easily Sidney Patterson’s main contribution for Chief Sealth in 2019. The 5’11” used her size and great reading and technique to have a highly-productive season for the Seahawks, one in which she registered 81 blocks in 41 sets, averaging nearly two per set. Her offensive game, which generated 83 kills, and her serving skills, which resulted in 20 aces, can both get better, but Patterson did well enough to receive an All-State team honorable mention and to be included in the All-League second team.
Rebecca DePencier Piñero– Outside Hitter – Sophomore – Lakeside
Rebecca DePencier Pinero took the district by storm in 2019, when she stood out at Lakeside to the point of being an All-League first-team selection in her first season of high school volleyball. The 5’10” prospect has the complete package to be an elite outside hitter with a strong and efficient game at the net and the hard-working mentality and outstanding technique required to excel at the backcourt. The future seems bright for the young Lioness, who also spends time refining her craft in beach volleyball tournaments.
