However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
The Northwest District has schools from the 1A, 2A and 3A classes and these are our picks:
Class of 2021
Liv King – Outside Hitter – Lynden Christian
Anyone watching Liv King playing for Lynden Christian has a hard time believing she does all she does while being 5’8”. The energetic outside hitter is one of the most athletic and creative hitters in the entire state, which makes of her really difficult to stop at the net. She led the Lyncs last season in kills (212), but was also rock solid on the backcourt, going back to her first year in the program, registering 200 digs. King also has a positive, supporting personality, which makes of her the ideal teammate. She was rewarded in 2019 with inclusions in the All-State second team and All-League first team.
Class of 2022
Amey Rainaud – Setter – Burlington-Edison
Amey Rainaud is wise beyond her years and that is a particularly important feature for a setter. Lucky Burlington-Edison, which managed to see their 5’6” prospect dishing out 926 assists in 2019 on her way to be nominated to the All-State second team and the All-League first team. Two things that make of Rainaud a great setter are her great understanding of the game and her outstanding ball control, but she goes well beyond her setting responsibilities with the Lady Tigers significantly contributing from the service line (67 aces last season) and the backcourt (297 digs).
Class of 2023
Sydney Faber – Libero/Defensive Specialist – Lynden Christian
Coming in as a freshman and securing a spot in the rotation of a solid program as Lynden Christian is no easy task and Sydney Faber can be proud of having accomplished that in 2019. The 5’2” defensive stud offered the Lyncs a great deal of stability in the backcourt and used her great positioning and impressive technique to immediately slot into a key role for the team in her first year of high school volleyball.
