However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
As we look at the West portion of the South Central Athletic Conference, here are our picks:
Class of 2021
Brooke Silvernail – Outside Hitter – La Salle
Brooke Silvernail was a key element in La Salle’s near-perfect 11-1 win record in the district last season. The six-foot outside hitter was as strong as it gets on offense, averaging nearly 15 per match, but also contributed to the Lightning’s all-around play with her well-polished game, developed in sand courts. The season couldn’t have been better for Silvernail, who was the All-League Player of the Year and made it to the All-State first team for the first time in her high school career.
Class of 2022
Brynn Widner – Middle-Blocker – Zillah
Brynn Widner is a standout and awarded basketball player for Zillah, but she also uses some of her time to help the Leopards on volleyball courts. The 5’8” middle-blocker is very athletic and quick on her feet and her mind, which allows her to be one step ahead of opponents despite her limited 5’8” size. Widner overall skills are also solid thanks to the time she spends playing beach volleyball.
Class of 2023
Maddie Kime – Setter – Naches Valley
Not many freshmen got the chance of playing significant minutes in the district last year and Naches Valley’s Maddie Kime was probably among the ones who left the strongest impressions. The Rangers prospect is still raw and has a lot to improve in the upcoming years, but her 5’8” frame gives her a head start against the other setters in the region.
