However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
Our first stop in the 1B class if the Central Washington District and here are our picks:
Class of 2021
Anna Williams – Middle-Blocker – Pateros
Anna Williams has been a difference-maker for Pateros in each of her first three years of high school volleyball. The 5’10” middle-blocker has shown she has enough to impact both sides of the game while at the net and she has done just that, especially in 2019, when her play led the Nannies to a perfect 12-0 win record in the district. Williams is not only tall, but also very athletic, a feature she earned from her track and field student-athlete career which already gave her a state title. Her game took her to the All-State second team last year.
Class of 2022
Vanessa Ceniceros – Right Sider – Pateros
Vanessa Ceniceros’ all-around game might be seen by many as an unconventional fit for the right sider position which typically demands size and power, but the 5’6” prospect made the most of her tools to be a prominent player in Pateros’ successful 2019 campaign. Ceniceros held her own as well as anyone else at the net and still contributed to the Nannies in great fashion on defense, bringing a lot to the table. Her solid play took her to the All-State team as an honorable mention nominee.
Class of 2023
Truly Elliott – Right Sider – Soap Lake
Soap Lake is one of the two teams that will be joining the district next season and they will bring one of the most interesting young players to the mix in Truly Elliott. Her high school career with the Lady Eagles is still brief but it’s impossible to ignore the potential of a 5’10” right sider who should be given every opportunity to shine in the team’s upcoming campaign.
