However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
It’s time we head to the 1B Northwest District and here are the players we picked:
Class of 2021
Ione Fox – Setter – Shoreline Christian
Ione Fox was one of the reasons why Shoreline Christian went undefeated in the district in 2019 winning on their four matches while dropping just one set. The 5’6” prospect, who also plays basketball and gold for the Chargers, takes up the responsibility of leading her team as a great setter would, handing out assists and encouraging her teammates during matches. Her importance to the team was recognized with an All-State team honorable mention last season.
Class of 2022
Abbey Boas – Setter – Grace Academy
Grace Academy also owes a great deal of the team’s recent success to their setter as Abbey Boas has been as solid as it gets for the Eagles in the last two years. The setter has good size for the positions and touches the ball as well as anyone in the division, but one of her main assets is her fighting spirit, which often infects her teammates and generates some points for her team. The sum of her skills made of Boas an All-State team honorable mention nominee in 2019.
Class of 2023
Karis Jones – Setter/Outside Hitter – Grace Academy
Karis Jones is the rare kind of player that can perform at a high level in virtually every position. The Grace Academy prospect is naturally suited for the setter spot, but her 5’10” frame and her fantastic technique have made her play in basically every other area of the team. In 2019, she was an outside hitter and did so well for the Eagles that she earned an All-State team honorable mention in the position.
