However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
Today we look at the 2A Evergreen District and here are the players we picked:
Class of 2021
Coletta Franklin – Outside Hitter – Black Hills
Coletta Franklin was a force at the net for Black Hills last season. The 5’10” outside hitter carried most of the team’s offensive load and her efficiency and versatility at the net proved to be valuable assets to the Wolves. Franklin has a great understanding of the game and knows exactly when to use power or finesse, a skill she probably developed while playing beach volleyball. Her performances took her to the All-League second team in 2019.
Class of 2022
Drea Brumfield – Middle-Blocker – WF West
Drea Brumfield has a significant advantage against the other middle-blockers in the district due to her size as she stands at 6’2”. The WF West prospect has been doing a good job in developing her game and has become an important element for the Bearcats at the net with her hitting and blocking game. Brumfield is also a basketball student-athlete and that experience has certainly enhanced her movement and decision-making ability. She received an All-League team honorable mention for her progress in 2019.
Class of 2023
Madison Stoeckler – Setter – Centralia
Madison Stoeckler was the only freshman to be part of last year’s All-League team as an honorable mention and that tells a lot about the level of her game at such a young age. The 5’6” Centralia prospect takes care of her setting duties with ease but also adds a lot to the Tigers on the backcourt with her good grasp of the defensive part of the game and her steady serving presence.
