The talent of setters at the Milwaukee Sting Center was on point this past weekend at the Prep Dig Gauntlet. With some already committing to top programs, there are plenty more left that are available to play at the college level. Here are a few of the top ones who stood out at the Prep Dig Gauntlet.

[player_tooltip player_id="81272" first="Josie" last="Johnson"] - Burlington United 17 Orange

Johnson provides a spark on the court where her fire and energy is contagious, The UW-Milwaukee commit knows the other side of the net and can find what matchups are most favorable for her squad. She is a solid defender and knows when to take one herself on the second contact. Her grittiness definitely is worth more than a few points for an explosive Burlington United team.

Megan Margolis - [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] 17-1 NS

[program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] 17-1 NS which is out of Libertyville, IL was on fire this weekend. Defeating Burlington United twice in one weekend is no easy feat, but they stepped up in the clutch. Margolis is another 5-1 setter who brings plenty of physicality to the net. She connects well with her middles and knows when to shoot it out to the pin for them to terminate.

[player_tooltip player_id="144661" first="Ellie" last="Connor"] - RVA 17 Navy

Connor is so savvy and finds a way to get the job done for RVA who was red hot this weekend until the semifinal match where they ran into [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High']. Connor keeps it simple. She knows who is open, who has the one on one match up, and was so smooth in leading her middles of [player_tooltip player_id="81312" first="Abby" last="Savatski"] and [player_tooltip player_id="144660" first="Morgan" last="Neitzel"]. This team plays will plenty of energy and Connor is a major reason behind their success.

[player_tooltip player_id="57252" first="Emma" last="Baierl"] - FC Elite 17 Navy

Another smooth operator is [player_tooltip player_id="57252" first="Emma" last="Baierl"], the Truman State commit can do a little bit of everything for FC Elite where she sets and also plays a little right side when needed. Shes been part of two state titles for Howards Grove along with her counterpart, [player_tooltip player_id="81273" first="Emma" last="Johnson"], who has done the same for Luxemburg-Casco. This setter combo is always providing consistency for FC Elite 17 Navy.

Tess Hayes - 1st Alliance 16 Black

1st Alliance 16 Black caught a tough break being on the wrong end of a three team tie on Day 2 losing out to Sting 16 Black to advance to the gold bracket. That doesn't take away the overall talent of this team with how they are so balanced at every position. Hayes is one of their setters who demonstrates great footwork and hands where she is money when setting anything with a quick tempo.

Caylee Folken - [program_tooltip program_id='430006' first='Illini' last='Elite'] 16 Black

This was a little bit of a different lineup for [program_tooltip program_id='430006' first='Illini' last='Elite'] 16 Black where Caylee Folken ran a 5-1, but her base in the front row was out of the middle. This is not an easy task for a setter, but she was able to get to the ball and utilize her pins. [program_tooltip program_id='430006' first='Illini' last='Elite'] has a long line of successful setters who have come through their club.

[player_tooltip player_id="122560" first="Andi" last="Spies"] - Capital 16 Adidas

I know in the past I've gotten the graduating year for Spies wrong, but just to confirm, she is from the Class of 2024 who has always played up. The experience of playing up a class definitely shows with her IQ for the game. She is still playing an age level up on the Capital Adidas 16s team who took home the 15/16s title. Spies scores points on the right side and is so smooth with her footwork and hands as a setter, shes the type of player you want on your side of the net.

[player_tooltip player_id="91894" first="Rachel" last="Koss"] - FC Elite 17 Navy

Koss is another who just orchestrates and has total control of the court. She knows when to feed the hot hand and this past weekend was finding a great connection with middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id="82915" first="Autumn" last="Flynn"] who was scoring plenty of points with a quick tempo in front of Koss and on the slide. Koss can also find the open court herself.

[player_tooltip player_id="91906" first="Elena" last="Dragani"] - Milwaukee Sting 16 Black

The evolution of Dragani's game has been fun to watch over the past two seasons. Even from the beginning of the 2021 club season until now, she has improved her game and you can see she is more confident. She blocks, defends, attacks when it's there and is someone who needs to be on the court with all of the positive things she does for her team. This Sting 16 Black squad is dangerously scrappy where they will find ways to wear you down.
