With each rankings, some players managed to move up the list and raise their stock a great deal in the last year.
Here’s 6 names that made a big jump up the ladder.
Ava Sarafa Ava Sarafa 6'0" | S Marian | 2023 State #14 Nation MI , S Marian/Michigan Elite
Sitting at No. 6 in our previous rankings, Sarafa didn’t have much room to improve. Yet, here she is climbing up to No. 2. The 6-foot setter has all the tools you look for in a setter at the D1 level and continues to work to improve.
Kam Burbridge Kam Burbridge 6'1" | MB Grand Haven | 2023 State MI , MB Grand Haven/MVA
Burbridge skyrocketed up in these latest rankings, going from 28 to 11th. The MB from Grand Haven saw some varsity action last fall and then built off that with a strong club year. A standout blocker, Burbridge has improved on her finishing at the net and overall game.
Shelby Porter Shelby Porter 6'1" | RS Kenowa Hills | 2023 State MI , RS Kenowa Hills/MVA
Porter moved into the top 20 in our latest rankings, improving her spot from 24th to 18th. She showed noticeable improvement from her freshman season to her sophomore year in 2020, becoming one of Kenowa Hills’ kill leaders. Now is her chance to show she can take another step toward becoming a complete player in 2021.
Raegan Lantz Raegan Lantz 6'1" | OH West Ottawa | 2023 State MI , MB West Ottawa/MVA
Another MVA talent that made a big climb in the rankings is Lantz, who went from 45th to 22nd over the summer. The 6’1” middle has shown the ability to play on the outside as well and has great footwork for her size. The ceiling remains very high for her as she continues to gain confidence in her play.
Taylor Stephens Taylor Stephens 5'11" | OH Okemos | 2023 State MI , OH Okemos/FaR Out
Stephens bumped herself up to 35th in the latest rankings with a solid club performance for FaR Out. Stephens had limited opportunities in the prep season, playing in just 55 sets. However, she showcased the skills to be a very impactful six-rotation outside. The 2021 prep season will be a chance for her to really shine.
Emma Thamarus Emma Thamarus 5'11" | OH Dakota | 2023 State MI , OH Dakota/Legacy
Thamarus jumps up a few spots to No. 42. The Dakota and Legacy outside hitter shows the ability to mix up her swings and locations well to finish points. She makes some difficult plays look casual, and also can play at either pin.
