The eighth week of high school play has come to a close so now it is time to spotlight some players who did BIG things as a top performers for their team this past week.

Check back soon for players that dominated all season long for their high school team.

(Players are listed in alphabetical order)

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="126046" first="Angie" last="Acosta"], 5’2”, DS, David Douglas High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy

The sophomore libero for the David Douglas High School Scots, Acosta is a key factor to the success of this team. She helped the Scots finish fourth in the Mt. Hood Conference and make it to 6A State playoffs for the first time in 15 years. Acosta is leading the team in service aces, has a 2.2 passing average, and is averaging 4 digs per set.

Last club season she played for OJVA 16-3 White.

Acosta is currently not committed to a school for 2024.

2022 Avery Bergers, 5’6”, DS, Nelson High School, Chaos Volleyball Club

The senior libero for the Nelson High School Hawks, Berges is commanding the back row. In last week’s matches, she garnered 24 digs, 5 service aces, and 5 assists. She showcases incredible defensive work, and an ability to move and see around the block quickly, says her coach.

Last club season she played for Chaos 17-1 National.

Bergers is currently not committed to a school for 2022.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91227" first="Emma" last="Burlingame"], 6’0”, MB, Mountainside High School, Athena Volleyball Academy

Burlingame has been trained as a middle blocker for most of her volleyball career and has been the starting middle blocker for the Mountainside High School Mavericks for the past three seasons. However, with a lot of their dominant pins graduating last season, the team needed Burlingame to step up as an outside attacker, and she has done so with great confidence and success. In last week’s matches, she racked up an impressive 34 kills, hitting a .311, had 2 blocks, 3 service aces, 23 digs, and a notable serve receive rating of 2.69 (which is even more notable knowing she has not been in a passing role before). Her coach commended her on her continued improvement, great shot selection, and leadership.

Last club season she played for Athena 17-1 Gold.

Burlingame is currently not committed to a school for 2022.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91219" first="Elliott" last="Bush"], 5;10”, OH, Central Catholic High School

The six-rotation outside attacker Bush has shown consistent play all season long for the Central Catholic High School Rams, and last week was no different. Helping the Rams finish #1 in the Mt. Hood Conference, go undefeated in league play, and secure the #4 ranked team in 6A standings, she continues to dominate. In last week’s matches she hit a .386 with 36 kills, had 18 digs, and 3 service aces.

Bush is currently not committed to a school for 2022.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="126033" first="Maile" last="Chan"], 5’4”, DS, Mountainside High School, Athena Volleyball Academy

The sophomore libero for the Mountainside High School Mavericks has proven herself indispensable for the team’s back row play. In last week’s matches, she had an impressive 26 digs and an average serve receive rating of 2.78 on 32 service receptions. Versus Jesuit, the team went to a two-person serve receive with Chan and Burlingame, and Chan remained controlled and consistent, even with this change. This change got Chan receiving even more balls than typical.

Last club season she played for Athena 15-1 Gold.

Chan is currently not committed to a school for 2024.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="91311" first="Kennedy" last="Cheung"], 5’3”, DS, Westview High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy

The junior libero for the Westview High School Wildcats since her freshman season, Cheung continues to lead her team defensively. Verus Jesuit, she racked up 12 digs, an assist, a service ace, and had an average serve receive rating of 2.04. Verus Aloha, she posted 14 digs, 3 assists, and had an average serve receive rating of 2.08.

Last club season she played for OJVA 16-1 National.

Cheung is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2023.

2022 Abby Francis, 5’10”, RS, Bend High School, North Pacific Juniors

The leftie senior right-side attacker Francis is a key part of the offense for the Bend High School Lava Bears. In last week’s matches, she hit a .227 last week with 16 kills and 3 blocks. A strong attacker that demands the ball, she allows the setters to spread the ball around and create holes in the block for all hitters, says her coach.

Last club season she played for NPJ 18-2 Elite.

Francis is currently not committed to a school for 2022.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91226" first="Marley" last="Hardgrave"], 6’3”, MB, Bend High School, North Pacific Juniors, Seattle University

The senior middle blocker Hardgrave brings height and power to the position for the Bend High School Lava Bears, a team that is currently sitting at #2 in the state for 6A. In their two matches last week, Hardgrave amassed an impressive 21 kills, hitting a .432, and 14 blocks. Her coach complimented her ability to consistently make herself available to put the ball away.

Last club season she played for NPJ 18-1 National.

Hardgrave recently committed to play at Seattle University for the fall of 2022.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id="161157" first="Mia" last="Hunt"], 5’9”, S/OH, Central Catholic High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy

Garnering the #1 2025 recruit, it is not a surprise that Hunt is dominating for the Central Catholic High School Rams. She has been a critical component to the Rams #1 finish in the Mt. Hood Conference, undefeated play during league, and securing the #4 ranked team in 6A standings. Last week she racked up 19 kills and 7 blocks for the team. The kill leader this season for the Lava Bears, you would never have guessed this was her first season on the pin.

Last club season she played for NPJ 16-1 National.

LeLuge is currently not committed to a school for 2024.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="91327" first="Kalista" last="Lukovich"], 6’0”, OH, Nelson High School, Chaos Volleyball Club

The six-rotation junior outside attacker Lukovich is dominating for the Nelson High School Hawks.
