This may have been one of the toughest groups of players you will see all season! A part of a class that holds some serious weapons on the pins, the middle blockers aren’t ones to be messed with either!

Of the eight blockers listed here, five of them are already committed to big time division one programs! The other’s just haven’t been called for yet. That’s the kind of talent I am talking here. Monster blocks a plenty and some big time bouncers all day long.

They’re some of the best in Cleveland this weekend and they’re some of the best in the country. Here are eight towers in the middle at JVA’s Rock N Rumble.

[player_tooltip player_id="106665" first="Nya" last="Bunton"] (2023) | 6’4 MB | KIVA

If you’re trying to get through this block, think again. [player_tooltip player_id="106665" first="Nya" last="Bunton"] had one of the largest net presences in Cleveland. She’s big and she can JUMP! Her block touch alone was closing in to parallel the top of the antenna! Flying so high in the air, no opposing blockers were much of a match when her number was called on offense. This Texas commit was unstoppable.

[player_tooltip player_id="106664" first="Gabrielle" last="Gerry"] (2023) | 6’5 MB | KIVA

KIVA wasn’t loaded with just one huge blocker, but two of them! [player_tooltip player_id="106664" first="Gabrielle" last="Gerry"] wasn’t letting any ball pass her plane of the net. Her lengthiness shut down any potential gaps that were shown in the block and her reach allowed her to go over the opposing defense quite often in her attack.

Brielle Kemavor (2023) | 6’4 MB | Metro VBC

Brielle Kemavor was a terror at Rock N Rumble. The Brigham Young commit was all over the opponent’s attack this weekend. She’s a big kid with a very strong build that makes her tough to contend with. When Kemavor wasn’t shutting down hitters, she was putting dents into the floor with her cannon of an arm.

Pam McCune (2023) | 6’1 MB | Metro VBC

Another killer through the middle for Metro VBC was Pam McCune. McCune and Kemavor are a perfect combination in the middle. McCune is a high flying middle that can really come out of nowhere. The Iowa State commit was not only a really big piece of the Metro offense, but she had a very solid block to slow down her rivals.

Lauren Atwell (2023) | 6’3 MB | Pittsburgh Elite

This is another big player that was a great find to see this weekend. Lauren Atwell was superb. She holds a very strong block, her lateral movement is very smooth, and she puts herself in great positions. It’s hard to get your share of swings with such dominate pin attackers, but Atwell was crucial in their success. Her ability to pull blocks was great and when her number was called, she delivered.

[player_tooltip player_id="66334" first="Neele’ge’" last="Sims"] (2023) | 6’0 MB | Michigan Elite

A part of another dynamic duo in the middle, [player_tooltip player_id="66334" first="Neele’ge’" last="Sims"] was having herself a weekend. Sims returns to the 2022 club season after missing a bulk of 2021 with injury and she had herself quite the welcome back. She is fast in transition and on the block. Her movement along the net is quite elite and came up huge in some high key moments this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="173600" first="Sawyer" last="Jones"] (2023) | 6’0 MB | Michigan Elite

Alongside Sims for this Michigan Elite 1-2 punch is [player_tooltip player_id="173600" first="Sawyer" last="Jones"]. Like Sims, Jones plays a very fast paced game. Her transition game is fast, her arm swing is fast and her defensive calls are fast as well. Not only is Jones a great net defender, but she showed to make quite a few great plays with her time in the back court. Jones was one of the more well-rounded middles in Cleveland.

[player_tooltip player_id="66291" first="Laurece" last="Abraham"] (2023) | 6’1 MB | Michigan Elite

Ouch... If you are in the way of this ball, I am sorry. [player_tooltip player_id="66291" first="Laurece" last="Abraham"] was Legacy’s ace middle in Cleveland. Her blocking game is top notch, but the way she can float in the air for a few seconds before obliterating a ball is just perfection. This Yale commit really has a lot of upside and when given the opportunity, can take over a match herself.
