SubscribeSeveral club volleyball teams from the state of Washington are set to make a road trip weekend as they will all head south to compete in the Matt Hartner Memorial Volleyball Classic, a three-day tournament that will take place in Eugene, Oregon, over the Martin Luther King weekend.
The event has attracted some of the top club teams from the region and the squad coming from the Evergreen State will be in contention in both age divisions (15s/16s and 17s/18s).
As the event will take place right at the start of the club season, we’ll present you five teams from the state of Washington you should follow in the tournament and some of their most interesting players.
Today our topic is Excel 16 Rox from the Excel NW Volleyball Club, located in the southwest of the state of Washington.
Players to Watch:
Anna Nadal – Outside Hitter – HS: Hockinson – 2024
An athletic and explosive player who can play on either side of the net, Anna Nadal has a ton of offensive potential. The 5’10” prospect has long arms and jumps well, making is very difficult for opposing blockers to challenge her at the net. She can also hit in the middle and is a solid defensive player with good positioning and superior ball control.
Olivia Adamo – Middle Blocker – HS: Oregon City (OR) – 2024
Olivia Adamo has been quick developing as one of the most promising middle blockers in the high school scene in Oregon. The 5’11” prospect has a very complete game, presenting good balance between her offensive and defensive actions. Adamo, who’s also capable of playing on the left or the right, is vastly efficient with her offense as most of the times she’s set, she puts the ball on the floor.
Evelyn Wenger – Outside Hitter – HS: Columbia River – 2024
A 5’9” outside hitter with an interesting all-around game, Evelyn Wenger does an excellent job in adding some volume to the teams she plays at. She’s very technical on defense and has a fast and heavy arm, with which she scores points on the left – she’s especially prolific when hitting angle. Wenger was Columbia River’s fourth-best offensive player in the last high school season with 78 kills and still added 26 digs. Very versatile, she has played middle and setter in the past.
