Competition is heating up at the club level in Washington, providing yet another opportunity for us to watch some of the top prospects in the state battle week in, week out in tournaments.
In our final piece of the series, know some Class of 2025 players who have what it takes to be protagonists on their teams.
Players to Watch
Peyton Ensign – Setter – Club: DaKine Warriors – HS: Curtis
When a freshman registers north of 1,000 assists in her first high school season and is selected for the Washington Coaches Association All-State first team, you know she’s the real deal. That’s what Peyton Ensign showed with Curtis, as besides her 1,074 assists, the 5’7” setter also produced 269 digs and 39 aces. Ensign is a cornerstone her high school team will be able to build around for the next three years and she will have the same kind of impact with her club team DaKine Warriors.
Ziah Sneva – Middle Blocker – Club: Puyallup Juniors – HS: North Thurston
A 6’2” middle blocker with sky-high potential, Ziah Sneva is a name to watch closely over the next few years. Besides her obvious physical tools, which also include long arms and big hands, Sneva has also shown a well-developed game during the last high school season as she produced 48 kills and 27 blocks in just 54 sets with North Thurston. She should have more opportunities to play, and further refine her game, during the club season with Puyallup Juniors.
Ariana Medchill – Right Sider – DaKine Warriors – HS: Curtis
The connection between Ensign and Ariana Medchill should be one of the strengths of their DaKine Warriors team during the club season. Setter and right sider have developed great chemistry with Curtis and have carried it for the next few months, hoping to have even more impact. As wither teammate, the 5’10” Medchill certainly passed the eye test during the high school season, registering 184 kills, 44 blocks and 125 digs in a loaded Curtis roster.
