We’ll constantly use this space during the club season to highlight the top performers and this week we’ll feature some of the 16s teams in the Evergreen State that are up to a promising start of the season.
DaKine Warriors 16 Surf
No one has been able to stop the team from the DaKine Volleyball Club out of Tacoma so far, as 16 Surf have won all of their 12 matches played. The results led the team to finish first at both the Puget Sound Region Power League and the Matt Hartner Memorial Classic in Oregon.

Players to Watch:
Danielle Brown – Middle Blocker – HS: Puyallup – 2024
Danielle Brown is quickly becoming one of the most coveted prospects in the state of Washington. The 6’2” middle blocker hasn’t stopped getting better since she first appeared in the scene and her ceiling is tremendously high because of her combination of physical and technical tools and a high volleyball IQ. Her offense is easily the highest point of her game because of her ability to hit multiple sets (including from the left) and hammer the ball straight down, but her blocking is also extremely impactful. She made it to the Washington Coaches Association All-state first team last season after registering 261 kills, 32 aces, 136 blocks and 150 digs for Puyallup.
Kaitlyn Nguyen – Libero – 2026
Based on her performance on the court, it’s hard to tell Kaitlyn Nguyen is playing two years up every time she suits up for DaKine Warriors 16 Surf. A class of 2026 defender, she is on a path to becoming an elite defender with a memorable career. Nguyen has great technique and her excellent ball control allows her to keep any hard-driven hit in play. She’s also a hustler and does everything in her control to keep the ball alive, succeeding on most occasions. Nguyen is also a brilliant beach volleyball player, something that helps her tremendously with her mobility and ball control. She’s also great with serves and when hand-setting in transition.
Hannah Byers – Right Sider – HS: Olympia – 2024
A tall, athletic and versatile prospect, Hannah Byers is one of those players who would do well in any position. She plays the dual right-sider role for DaKine Warriors 16 Surf and does it at a very high level. The 6’1” Byers does a great job with her setting when at the backcourt and has an interesting tendency to set against the flow of play, often putting her hitters in an excellent position. When at the net, she uses her frame extremely well to score points. Playing as an outside hitter for Olympia during the last high school season, she tallied 285 kills, 301 passes, 138 digs, 28 aces and 25 blocks.
