The event reunites some of the best club volleyball talent in the state of Washington and we’ll preview it by recommending five 17s teams to follow when matches start on Saturday.
NPJ Seattle 17 National
The team from the North Pacific Juniors Volleyball Club out of Seattle has been solid, yet not spectacular in the club season. 17 National had decent finishes at the Matt Hartner Memorial Classic (12th) and the Annual Las Vegas Classic (13th), but can certainly produce more given the talent level they have. Their season is currently at 14 wins and ten losses.
Players to Watch
Ellie Marble – Outside Hitter – HS: La Conner – 2023
The 2B Division Player of the Year in the last high school season, when she guided La Conner to a state title, Ellie Marble changed clubs this year, making an already strong NPJ Seattle 17 National even stronger. A six-foot outside hitter with tremendous firepower but also extraordinary technical and mental skills, she’s one of the best players in the entire state. She produced 521 kills, 491 digs, 306 passes and 77 aces during the last high school season and immediately became a key piece for NPJ Seattle 17 National.
Jaelyn Moeva – Middle Blocker – HS: Auburn Riverside – 2023
A six-foot middle blocker with a lot of athleticism, Jaelyn Moeva adds some remarkable net presence to NPJ Seattle 17 National. A hard worker, she has a lot of power in her approach and can hit a lot of different sets. Her blocking is also well-developed as she moves well at the net and has great technique to place her arms across it. Moeva is also a very good server and can play defense, an ability that allowed her to play right sider and even outside hitter in high school.
Friley Curtiss – Outside Hitter – HS: Mount Si – 2023
Another member of this NPJ Seattle 17 National team to stand over six-foot, Friley Curtiss is a prolific scorer at the pin. She makes great use of her 6’1” frame and makes contact with the ball at a very high point, making life hard for opposing blockers. She has tremendous power on her right arm and can send the ball in any direction when in system. Curtiss can also hit from the right and the middle, including quick sets, and is a capable defender, passer and blocker.
