The four-month tournament is typically the stage for some intriguing battles and is where players go beyond their limits to perform and chase victories.
This year’s edition of the Power League has started in early January and over the course of the month and each division has played at least one stop (or the seeding day). The 18s Division, which combines 17s and 18s teams from the Evergreen State is one of the most advanced with two rounds already completed.
This week, we’ve been highlighting some of the teams that had the best performances in the division so far and in this final piece, we’ll feature PS U18 Navy, a team from the Puget Sound Volleyball Academy that secured a 5-3 win record as of now.
Key Players
Roslyn Zentz – Setter – HS: Rodgers – 2022
Roslyn Zentz’s hands are the ones that guide PS U18 Navy’s offense and it’s fair to say the team is in great ones. A Montana tech commit, the 5’8” setter is excellent with her distribution and has exceptional technique. Despite her limited size, she’s very athletic after being a dual-sport student-athlete while combining her volleyball duties with track and field. She produced 376 assists (7.7 per set), 107 digs and 13 aces in her final year of high school volleyball with Rodgers and was selected for the Washington Coaches Association All-State team as an honorable mention.
Tara Hutchinson – Outside Hitter – HS: Annie Wright – 2022
A 5’10” outside hitter with great length and technical skills, Tara Hutchinson is also an excellent basketball player. She has been a key player for her high school team Annie Wright over the years, performing the double duty of significantly contributing to the team’s offense while also helping on the backcourt. She made it to the Washington Coaches Association All-State second team this past high school season.
Amanda Bussard – Middle Blocker/Right Sider – HS: Cascade Christian – 2022
A high-energy middle blocker, Amanda Bussard brings a lot of intensity to the game with her play. The six-footer has a strong presence at the net and is extremely athletic, being able to handle all the duties of a player in her position. Bussard is also very versatile offensively as she can hit from the middle, left, or right.
