Continue ReadingOne of the most anticipated moments of the club season for the class of 2022 player is right around the corner as some of the top 18s teams in the state of Washington will be reunited in Lynnwood this coming weekend for the Puget Sound Region U18 Bid Tournament.
The event will offer a precious opportunity for club teams from around the Evergreen State to qualify for this year’s USAV Girls 18s Junior National Championship, which will take place in Phoenix, Arizona, from April 22-24.
We’ve already highlighted some of the teams that will be competing for the bid this weekend in previous articles in the current club season, so we’ll take the days leading up to the event to feature some others who also deserve our love.
PJVBC 18 National
The team from the Puyallup Juniors Volleyball Club has been having a consistent season, with top-ten finishes in the PJVBC Winter Classic U18 (3rd), the Annual Las Vegas Classic (5th) and the Puget Sound Power League (eight) and a 13th-place at the Matt Hartner Memorial Classic. They have 18 wins and 14 losses in the season so far.
Players to Watch
Danielle Faamausili – Setter/Right Sider – HS: Steilacoom – 2022
A highly-productive player for both her high school and club teams, Danielle Faamausili is one of the best setters in the Puyallup region. The 5’9” prospect has great hands on the ball and is very clever with her distribution. A lefty, Faamausili has also taken on scoring duties with PJVBC 18 National when at the net and she shows great ability to it. She just ended a prolific high school career with Steilacoom with 2,821 assists, 1,003 digs, 315 kills and 162 aces.
Alofagia Woods – Middle Blocker – Outside Hitter – HS: Kentwood – 2022
A long and athletic prospect, Alofagia Woods is also versatile, being able to play in the middle or at the pin. She fills in the middle for PJVBC 18 National and gets to make an impact on the team with her well-rounded game. The 5’10” Woods has a very high contact point on offense, what makes it challenging for opponents to try to stop her. She’s also very active at the net is always alert to react to overpasses.
Grace Peterson – Outside Hitter – HS: Graham-Kapowsin – 2023
A true all-around player, Grace Peterson plays an important role for PJVBC 18 National on both sides of the ball. Also capable of playing as a libero, the 5’6” Peterson is a centerpiece in the team’s passing and defensive systems. She’s also one of their most important hitters as, despite of her limited height, she’s extremely efficient at the net because of her outstanding explosiveness. Peterson can jump really well and has a very quick and heavy right arm. She produced 192 kills, 255 digs and 395 passes in the last high school season with Graham-Kapowsin.
