Among the hundreds of teams heading to the Salt Palace Convention Center to start competing on Friday, there are, of course, several from Washington and we will use the time between now and them to feature some of them.
We decided to focus on the divisions of the 16s age group, which will have nine teams from the Evergreen State in action. As we had already highlighted some of those teams in previous articles, we’ll now bring some light to the ones that are yet to appear on our site in 2022.
CPA 16 Elite
The team from the CPA Volleyball Club out of Chenney is having an excellent season. CPA 16 Elite has finished in the top five in each of the ERVA Power League Qualifier (second), the Stars & Spikes (third) and the Matt Hartner Memorial Classic (fifth). They are in tremendous form with 37 wins and just three losses this season and will compete in the 16 USA division.
Players to Watch
Payton Davis – Outside Hitter – HS: Oakesdale – 2024
Payton Davis is one of the reasons for CPA 16 Elite’s excellent season. One of the most talented outside hitters in her age group in the entire state, the 5’8” Davis contributes to the team’s success in several different ways. She recently won the State Championship with her high school team Oakesdale while producing 180 kills, 241 digs, 197 passes and 62 aces.
Kaitlyn Hough – Middle Blocker – HS: St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse – 2024
A 5’10” middle blocker with long arms and a lot of athleticism, Kaitlyn Hough offers CPA 16 Elite an important presence at the net. She’s a good blocker and also an important offensive piece for the team. Hough was the second-best scorer for her high school team St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse with 83 kills.
Lexi Norisada – Libero – 2024
Alexis ‘Lexi’ Norisada was a welcomed addition to CPA 16 Elite coming from T3 Volleyball. The libero has helped stabilize the team’s backcourt and improved its defensive capabilities. Norisada is very quick on her movement and typically has good positioning on the backcourt, a combination that allows her to touch a lot of balls on defense.
