Continue ReadingThe Platinum tournament is the best of the best in Oregon and Washington, competing for the #1 seed in the Pacific Northwest. The Puget Sound region and the Columbia Empire region each send their top four 16U and top four 18U teams to compete, so a total of eight teams in each age bracket. First playing in a pool and then in a small bracket, one team will come out on top. One team from each age bracket will drop down, allowing for one team to move up and compete. There will be a few more Platinum tournaments taking place later on that we will be covering as well.
In the 16U age bracket the teams in attendance were: NPJ 16-1 National (CE), OJVA 16-1 Gold (CE), Athena 16-1 Gold, G3 16-1 (CE), Dakine 16-1 Surf (PS), NPJ Seattle 16-1 National (PS), Puget Sound 15-1 Navy (PS), and Dakine 15-1 Surf (PS).
All teams competed and great volleyball was played. To recap the tournament, we will be highlighting some standout players in their respective position and class.
OREGON ——————
Isabella C Jacobson Isabella C Jacobson 5'10" | OH Crescent Valley | 2025 State OR , 5’9”, OH, Crescent Valley High School, G3 Volleyball 16-1
[ Link to recruiting profile ]
Jacobson is one of many talented 2025s on the G3 16-1 team. She sees significant court time as a six-rotation outside hitter. With Mitchell (2025) running the offense, the two have found a really good connection, having played together for seasons, in both club and high school. When Jacobson is on, she is lethal on either pin and in the back row. She has a hammer of an arm swing and showcases smart attacking placement.
Jacobson was one of four freshmen to make the varsity team for the Crescent Valley High School Raiders. All of the 2025s saw significant court time and were definite impact players, Jacobson as a six-rotation outside attacker. She racked up 268 kills on the season, hitting a .243 average. Her play was a large part in the team’s second-place finish in the Midwestern Conference and their fourth-place finish in the 5A State tournament. Jacobson was awarded Mid Willamette First Team All-League and 5A Second Team All-State.
Jacobson is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2025.
Macey Hughes Macey Hughes 6'1" | RS Cornerstone Christian | 2025 State TX , 6’1”, RS, Santiam Christian School, North Pacific Juniors 16-1 National

Hughes is the #1 right side for the 2025 class, and the #4 recruit overall, so when she made the switch from G3 to NPJ, she was sure to make an immediate impact on the team. As the primary right-side attacker for NPJ 16-1 National, she is a major addition to the group. A leftie, she thrives on the right pin. With an explosive vertical and a fast arm swing, when she connects with the ball, she proves unstoppable. Hughes has shown substantial improvement over this past year and is well on her way to becoming a highly sought-after recruit coming out of the class of 2025 for Oregon.
Hughes had a breakout freshman season playing as a six-rotation attacker for the Santiam Christian School Eagles. Her play was absolutely critical in the Eagle’s first-place finish in the Mountain Valley Conference (and going undefeated in league). For her play, she was awarded Mountain Valley Player of the Year (a rare honor for a freshman), Mountain Valley First Team All-League, and 3A First Team All-State.
Hughes is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2025.
Paige Thies Paige Thies 6'2" | OH Oregon City | 2025 State #39 Nation OR , 6’1”, OH, Oregon City High School, North Pacific Juniors 16-1 National
[ Link to recruiting profile ]
As the #2 recruit for the class of 2025 coming out of Oregon, it is no surprise that Thies is a major player for the NPJ 16-1 National team. Playing on a team of primarily 2024s, she fits right into the group. She has shouldered a big load for the team, as a six-rotation outside attacker. She brings both size and power to the offense. Playing across the back row, Thies isn’t afraid to take a big swing on the back row attack. She shows great ball control on serve receive and defense.
As a freshman, Thies made the varsity team for the Oregon City High School Pioneers. She saw substantial court time as an outside hitter for the Pioneers. Although she battled through some injuries, she helped them finish 2nd in the Three Rivers League, only behind eventual State champions West Linn and advance to the quarterfinals of the 6A State tournament.
Thies is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2025.
WASHINGTON ——————
Layne Dent, 6’0”, OH, Cascade Christian High School, Puget Sound 15 Navy
[ Link to recruiting profile ]
In her fifth year with the Puget Sound club, Dent has become a huge key to the success of the PS 15-1 Navy team. Showcasing rapid improvement over the last year, she went from seeing the court a little in previous seasons to seeing the court a lot this season. She is a lethal pin hitter and has an incredibly high reach on the attack. Dent has the makings of being a top recruit coming out of the class of 2025 from Washington.
As a freshman, Dent made the varsity team for the Cascade Christian High School Cougars. She helped the team finish third in the Nisqually League. For her play, she was awarded Nisqually Honorable Mention.
Dent is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2025.
Sydney Dreves, 5’11”, OH, Columbia River High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 16-1 Gold
[ Link to recruiting profile ]
Dreves is a major player for the OJVA 16-1 Gold team, and the only freshman on the roster. She has shouldered a major load for the team, as their six-rotation outside hitter. Volleyball is in her blood, with her mother playing at Gonzaga, and older sisters Ali (at Marian University) and Lauren (top 2024 recruit) total studs in their own right. So it is no surprise that Dreves has natural talent. However, she is a workhorse and is determined to elevate her game. Playing as a libero at the beginning of her career, and having transitioned to the outside hitter role, she is a technically sound all-around player with great ball control skills on defense. When attacking, she is explosive with an insane arsenal of attacking placement.
Dreves was the lone freshman to make the Columbia River High School Rapids this past season. She took on a totally new position as their starting middle blocker but tackled it like a champ. Her play was critical in the Rapids first-place finish in league and their 2A State championship win. Dreves was awarded 2A Greater St. Helens First Team All-League and 2A First Team All-State for her play.
Dreves is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2025.
Olivia Miller, 5’9”, OH/RS, Dakine 15 Surf
[ Link to recruiting profile ]
Miller sees significant court time for the Dakine 15 Surf team, rarely seen off the court. A six-rotation outside attacker, she is a go-to hitter and is dominant from both pins. Miller brings tons of athleticism to the floor. When attacking, she has a significant vertical jump and showcases a high volleyball IQ with smart attacking plays. She does an excellent job picking on the opponent’s holes and uses the block to her advantage.
Miller is currently not committed to a school for the fall of 2025.
