In a few short days, the 17 National division will be underway, and joining them will be AVA 17 Adidas. This team most recently won first place at Lone Star Classic, and they have been improving all year. They are ranked 6 overall in the 17 National Division and have a good chance at bringing home hardware to the Lone Star Region and Houston, Texas.
Heading up the ball control for her team is libero Olivia Abbott Olivia Abbott 5'7" | OH Stratford | 2023 TX . Olivia has quick feet and moves well with out the ball in transition. She has improved her reads in defense, and is making quicker moves to the ball. She is also a leader on the court and heads the intensity and communication. She will be a huge piece for AVA moving into this week.
Blocking will be huge for AVA this week, and helping with that is right side Olivia Bush. Standing at 6’0, Olivia has been a solid block for her team all year. She has long arms and an incredible reach. She’s made improvements this season in her timing, quickness, and transition. Being a lefty, she also offers a tough, powerful swing on the right side.
Another piece of the puzzle are setters Megan Hubbard and Ashley Richardson Ashley Richardson 5'11" | S Clear Springs | 2024 State TX . AVA picked up two great setting options this season, and they both have proved to serve their team well. Megan and Ashley both have improved their jump setting this season, as well as their defense. AVA’s offense will have to fire on all cylinders this week, and it all starts with the setters.
The last element to AVA’s success this week is 6 rotation outside hitter Skylar George Skylar George 6'1" | OH Stratford | 2023 State TX . Skylar has improved her 6 rotation game this season, offering stellar offense, defense and serve receive. She has developed into an aggressive offensive attacker, and you can see her passion come out during games. Not only is she effective on the outside, you will often see her get the set on the right side as well. She can put the ball away at any position.
AVA 17 Adidas is very well rounded this season. They will put their talents to the test this week for 4 days against the best of the best in 17 National Division.
