It did not seem right to miss out on spotlighting spectacular athletes that had a stellar showing at the tournament just because the tournament was a little bit ago. With over 200 athletes in the 18 Open team, we have narrowed it down to 27 ALL-STARS. These 27 athletes proved themselves invaluable to their teams success over the three-day tournament.
Note – we are not spotlighting any 2022 athletes since their recruiting period is over so no 2022 athletes are included in this article.
Below are the six standout middle blockers that made it on the 18U Open All-Star Team from the Emerald City Classic.
Hailey Heytvelt Hailey Heytvelt 6'2" | MB LaSalle | 2024 State OR l OJVA 16-1 Gold l 2024 l 6’2” l MB l LaSalle Catholic College Preparatory
Heytvelt was an impact in the middle for the OJVA 16-1 team, who played up into the 18 Open division. She is an athletic and dynamic middle blocker. She exudes confidence in her abilities on the court. She is insanely fast in transition and runs a fast offense, keeping blockers guessing.
Peri Hoshock l WVBA 18 Adidas l 2023 l 6’1” l MB l Lake Stevens Sr High School
Committed: the Citadel
Hoshock was a dominant middle blocker for the WVBA 18-1 team. She is insanely athletic and quick in the middle. She does an exceptional job consistently making herself available. Her vertical jump is impressive and helps her absolutely pound the ball.
Lauren Kremer l NPJ Seattle 17 National l 2023 l 6’1” l MB l Mount Si High School
Kremer was a primary middle blocker for the NPJ 17-1 team. She does a great job getting herself involved in plays. Her blocking and attacking are impressive. With a multitude of different angles and shots, she proves lethal on the attack. She does an exceptional job moving laterally to close the block at the pins. Her play at the net was vital in the team reaching the finals in 18 Open.
Yazzy Muhammad l SIVBC 17 Storm l 2023 l 6’2 l MB l Lakeside High School
Muhammad was a definite difference maker for the SIVBC 17-1 team. She is an absolute beast in the middle, bringing size, power, and athleticism. An impressive attacker and blocer, she has great court awareness and knows how to get herself involved in the offense.
Corinne Westby l CRU U17 Baden l 2023 l 6’0” l MB l Ridgeline High School
Committed: Central Washington University
Westby had the opportunity to guest on the CRU 17-1 team, and was a major contributor to their success. Watching her play, you would never guess she was new to the team. She stepped on the court with confiendce, and made major plays all weekend. Her blocking game is impressive, getting three stuff blocks in the short amount of time I was able to watch her team play.
Brooklynn Williams l WVBA 17 Adidas l 2025 l 6’0” l MB l Shorewood High School
Williams was an impact in the middle for the WVBA 17-1 team. Incredibly athletic and oozing with potential, Williams is only in the class of 2025 so she is playing years above her peer group. She sees the court well, and is smart with her attacking placement. Williams is one to watch out of the class of 2025.
