Here is a look at the class of 2024 players who left their mark in the capital of the Hoosier state.
MB Danielle Brown Puyallup/Dakine Warriors 16 Surf. Brown showed an aggressive transition and quick arm, that lethal combination has been frustrating opponents all year, and Nationals was no exception. She is extremely good at seeing the block in front of her and either turning the shot or taking it hard to the deep corner. The nearly 6’3 Brown was a force at the net defensively and creative with tips when she needed to be. Her motor never stopped and that energy level lifted her team when she exploded into a critical kill. Chosen for the All-Tournament team in Indy, Brown is one of the top rising juniors in Washington and the Pacific Northwest.
S Brielle Wilson Mead/Renovators 16 National. A high volleyball IQ and great location on her sets helped this lefty floor general execute for her team out of Spokane. Clever with dumps and attacks at the net, Wilson is a consummate coach on the floor with an excellent flat serve she can move around at will. At the time Wilson was asked to operate as a right-side attacker, and she made it tough on opponents with a solid lefty swing from the pin. Helped lead her team to some epic 3 set wins.
OH/RS/S Hannah Byers Olympia/Dakine Warriors 16 Surf. Byers was not only a force at the net, she has real skills as a setter and the high release to her hitters that Power 5 programs covet. She was able to make every set needed, reversing the flow of the offense easily for Dakine and feeding her middles in front and behind with quicks. Her attacking was just as dominant as her setting, making her a unique prospect. Another All-Tournament selection along with her teammate Brown.
OH Julianne Hemphill Ridgeline/T3 16 Elite Blue. The quickness off the floor was striking for the undersized attacker from the Spokane Valley. Running a quick offense highlighted her ability to work line and tool opponents late on the block. Hemphill made great adjustments to tough sets out of system and has a growing arsenal of shots from the back row. A beach player as well, Hemphill will have options as a multi-faceted player.
OH Stella Foley Shorewood/NPJ SIVBC Thunder 16. The long, willowy Foley has a whip-like arm swing, notching multiple kills in a row in one set, She had the volley-dads in the stands chanting “feed the beast”! She followed up the three stinging swings with a sweet tip over the top, giving her 4 kills on 4 attempts. She was also dangerous on the right side going hard-line, several defenders had to cover up to avoid being six-packed.
