There is still plenty of time and opportunity for more players to make their marks and I’ll be watching! So, let’s take a look into some of Minnesota’s attackers who we will be watching for next weekend!
I am very excited to see Carr play live next weekend. She has this knack for scoring, no matter the competition. Carr should be one who continues to make headlines with her ability to terminate from anywhere along the net. She can tool the blocks on the pins and work the angles in the middle. Carr runs so many different routes that she is a defensive player’s nightmare.
Highlights
There’s nothing quite like seeing an athletic pin hitter who is strong in all six rotations. Ball was perfecting her all-around game during the club season, so I can’t wait to see what she brings to her high school season. She is a solid contributor in serve-receive, which sets her teammates up for success. When Ball’s number is called by the setter, she can put the ball away. Her confidence and ability to attack from either pin and the back row is crucial to her success in her role.
It’s not often you see a lefty taking the big swing on the left pin on a regular basis. Her dominant hand does not define her, and she is a terminator. Wachholz is the hitter you can depend on, pure and simple. She adjusts extremely well to the set and knows just how to make opposing blockers look silly. Wachholz is strong in all 6 rotations with solid back row skills, making her even more versatile for positioning at the next level.
Samantha is the big sister to Ava, and they are quite the outside hitting duo. Ball moves really well on the court and takes a big aggressive approach. She makes the most out of her attack selection by seeing the other side set up and picking apart their defense with a variety of tips and shots. Ball is strong in serve-receive and continually improving each time she steps on the court.
Miedema has physicality and confidence to make the big plays when her team needs them. She has a fast arm swing that works the edge of the block and can tool off the block with the best of them. Miedema has solid footwork that guides her in transition and gives her the best approach to the ball for the kill.
