CIF Southern Section: Div 6 Quarterfinal Winner

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last night was the quarterfinals for the different divisions (1-9) in the CIF Southern Section. The goal is for a team to get one step closer to the division championship which comes after the semi-finals this coming Saturday (10/29). Winning the quarterfinal places a team in the semi-finals. A CIF championship win brings recognition to a school, coaching staff, and players. It is the best ending to a high school season, bringing home a championship banner. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Division 6 found two Inland Empire schools going head to head. Arrowhead Christian Academy Eagles, coached by Brittney Amey and Amanda Reid took second in the Ambassador league with a record of 6-2. They are ranked #166 in California and #1 in the Southern Section Division 6. The Riverside Poly Bears, coached by Dana Fulwider and Pete Cherniss took first in the Ivy League with a record of 7-1. They are ranked #186 in California and #4 in Southern Section Division 6. Two great teams came out to play and battle in this quarterfinal round. Below is an introduction of some stand out players in order of their graduating class. She received serves and passed on point to her setter. She was there for the second ball and had full coverage of the tips. Gray was on the floor digging attacks and providing great passes that turned into points. She was a target by the opponent which didn't rattle her or get in her head. She passed the ball with accuracy to her setter, pins, and pipe. Goodwin has a strong swing and power behind her ball. She had eight kills and three assisted blocks. Croy can place her ball in different areas of the court, making her an unpredictable hitter.  She is a fun player to watch because she dominates the game. She is quick to get next to her pins for help with the blocks. Her arm extension and strong hands are benefits to her position. She had a one handed sideways dive and dig that produced a perfect pass to her setter, all while on the floor. She has power behind her ball and is a great offensive and defensive player. Wilson has no fear of diving on the floor to cover an attack. She can pass the ball, receive a ball, block, and kill. Wilson brings good energy and the connection she has on the court with her younger sister, sophomore setter Morgan Wilson makes plays successful. Her height is a benefit when she uses high hands and makes a solid wall to stop an attack in middle. She transitions well with speed and being focused on offense and defense. This allows her to read the attack for a block, or kill the ball after a set. She is a smart setter, knowing who her hot hitters are and she spreads the ball around getting her opponents out of system.  She is not afraid to joust at the net and can score on a middle blocker by doing so. Her sets at the middle are quick, short, and at the top of the tape which gives her hitters a better advantage because they can get on top of the ball and deliver a hit with power making it through blocks. Milligan has a strong hit that's usually angled at the middle back. Her power makes a ball fly with force and speed right in front of a back row defender.
