Here at PrepDig, we are committed to covering and promoting as many prospects as possible, from the most popular names to the hidden gems that typically abound at the Lone Star State and during the high school season we’re also doing it by featuring the teams they play at.
Every time we’re at the gym, we take the time to give a good look at the teams on the court and we’ll try to feature as many as possible here in this space. The Shadow Creek Sharks are our next topic.
The Squad
The Sharks had to face quite a comprehensive rebuild heading into the season with as many as five seniors and leading scorer Dominique Phills Dominique Phills 5'10" | OH Dawson | 2024 State TX all leading the team. After a positional tweak to Mackenzie Collins Mackenzie Collins 6'1" | MB Episcopal | 2025 State #48 Nation TX and the emergence of new talent in the form of Simone Robinson Simone Robinson 5'9" | S Shadow Creek | 2026 State TX , Shadow Creek seems to be headed in the right direction.
Key Players
One of the most impressive middle blockers during the club season in Texas, Collins embraced the challenge of switching to outside hitter with the Sharks. Her game adjusted pretty well to the new position, especially on offense, where Collins can use her size, length and tremendous athleticism to go up high and hit over the top of opposing blockers. Her blocking is also excellent and is capable of causing problems for opposing hitters. Playing as an outside, Collins has become more comfortable with her first contact and is also developing a scary backcourt swing.
Robinson was a much-welcome addition to Shadow Creek this season, helping the team find its way despite the several departures. A lefty, she’s very technical and creative and likes to move her hitters around. However, despite her young age, she’s mature enough to know that when the pass isn’t great, she’s better off keeping things simple when it comes to her distribution. Robinson takes on hitting duties when at the net and she uses her skill and vision to avoid the block and defense.
Highlights
Kelly Kelsick
Kelly Kelsick
With Collins and Kelsick at the pin, Shadow Creek has an excellent level and great balance in the position. The 5’8″ Kelsick is extremely well-rounded and adds a lot to the team. She makes great decisions on offense, scoring at a good level and making very few mistakes, even when hitting from the backcourt. Kelsick is also a reliable passer and has a very good floater.
Kelsea Dorsey
Kelsea Dorsey
Dorsey is certainly not among the tallest right side hitters out there, but she can hit the ball hard and jump well. She’s also very versatile and can swing at a very good rate from the left and the middle as well and has numerous different shots she uses to score points. Dorsey also has very good ball control, which helps the team on defense.
Jada Jackson
Jada Jackson
A utility player for Shadow Creek, Jackson has been filling in the middle for the team this season. She’s not very tall, but jumps well and has a good presence at the net. Her offense is fairly efficient as Jackson has a high contact point and hits the ball hard, making few mistakes. Her main assets when blocking are her mobility, which allows to quickly move from pin to pin, and her body control, which helps her adjusting while up in the air.
