Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
The senior carried Shadow Creek’s offense throughout the match and did a very good job of remaining consistent. She had eventual struggles with Stratford’s blocking, but for most of the time, managed to use her power and athleticism to put the ball down. Collins was nearly perfect when hitting a quick set in the middle when the Sharks got a free ball. Her blocking was also very aggressive and effective. Collins was part of Shadow Creek’s serve-receive efforts in nearly every rotation and displayed much-improved ball control.

Playing as an outside hitter, the senior was Shadow Creek’s main offensive weapon and led the team’s scoring efforts. Because of her high contact point, Collins was able to hit over the top of Manvel’s blockers on several occasions, scoring with great consistency. She also used her athleticism to adjust her body to imprecise sets and displayed power in her swings and versatility, hitting from the left and the middle in quick combination plays. Collins also had a great blocking presence, getting several stops at the pin.

. With her high contact point and her ability to hit in different directions, Collins was very difficult to stop. Her blocking also impacted the game in a significant way as she got some stuffs and forced opponents to hit around her, straight into her team’s defenders.

Another player who left Houston Juniors for Houston Skyline, Collins proved to be an interesting addition to 17 Royal. One of the top middles in the state, she started this season on the right after playing as an outside hitter during the last two high school season. The positional changes have been forcing Collins to develop different areas of her game as she continues to develop into a top player. She had a promising first experience on the right, benefiting from her incredible athleticism, her ability to hit quick sets and her excellent blocking, but will certainly look much better in the new position in a few months.

One of the best middles in the state, Collins has been splitting time between her original position and the pin in her first season with Episcopal. During the Houston Open, she was an outside hitter and strongly contributed to the team’s victory in the golden bracket. Extremely athletic, Collins was very difficult to stop and her offense was certainly among the very best in the tournament. Her high contact point was a nightmare for those trying to stop her at the net and her powerful swings complicated things for the defenders behind them. Collins looks fully adjusted to her new position offensively and also contributed with her blocking.

A track and field student-athlete, Collins is an athletic freak, being very difficult to stop at the net. She joined a strong Episcopal team this season and immediately became one of their key players. Collins is very gifted offensively, getting off the floor extremely well and having a lot of firepower in her right arm. She played as an outside hitter during the last high school season with Shadow Creek, adding yet more tools to her offensive arsenal. Collins’ blocking is also extremely strong as she not only goes very high up at the net, but is also very aggressive with her arms.

A new face with Episcopal this season, Collins seems to be still integrating with her new teammates but it was already possible to see the kind of impact she can make on the team. The middle wasn’t set quite a lot, but was extremely efficient when that happened, putting the ball down at ease and making very few errors. When she was able to make good contact with the ball and get the timing right, it was clear that she’ll bring a level of offensive power the Knights currently don’t have. She also came up with a pair of clutch blocks at the end of set three.

Vastly considered one of the best middles in the entire state in her age group, Collins left Shadow Creek to play for Episcopal in her final two years of high school. An incredibly athletic and consistent player, she was massive for Shadow Creek in her two seasons with them, amassing 690 kills and 77 blocks – she played as an outside hitter in her sophomore year. Collins’ move has perfect timing for the Knights since Ava Harrington, and Farah Farooq, the team’s starters last season, have both graduated. She’s also an accomplished track and field student-athlete.

I’ve run into HJV 16 Elite a couple of times this year, and Collins has always been that player to keep an eye on. She’s the ideal middle blocker for the M1 spot with her incredible range and effortless athleticism. Collins tested some of the best defensive teams at Triple Crown NIT, but she didn’t stop there. I ran into 16 Elite again at Windy City, where Collins built on her ever-expanding highlight reel.
