This scouting report will focus on West as we’ve scouted the Little Hawks twice this season. You can find those reports HERE and HERE.
Melae’ Lacy
Melae’ Lacy
Lacy doesn’t receive near enough attention as an all-court player with strong skills in the back and at the net. The junior can hammer kills from any of the front positions as evidenced by the 20 she put away in this match. Her serve is solid and she has no problem digging pace. Keep an eye on this one. She’s already good and is improving.
Iowa City West’s setter is good enough to play other positions on the floor and that helps aid her team throughout rotations. She boasts good length and athleticism. She sees the court well, mixes up her sets nicely and delivers precise balls. She assists at the net and can handle hot shots coming her way defensively.
Alaina Greenlee
Alaina Greenlee
More steady than flashy, that approach serves Greenlee well. She stands out as a team leader with solid skills across the board. She holds together her teams back row and passes with precision. Teammates feed off her positive energy.
An imposing figure at the net, Deyak rejects plenty of offerings but she also alters shots and makes opponents uncomfortable with her presence from the defensive standpoint. Offensively, she swings with force and sees the court well. She’s agile and moves well for her size.
Kristiana Washington
Kristiana Washington
Washington contributes steadily as a two-way net performer. She reads the defense well, which helps her land the ball in advantageous positions. She jumps well with long arms, creating a barrier at the net on defense. She’s improving and has room to grow into her ceiling.
