Below are some of the pin hitters who have been stepping up for their teams!
Semau stood out in her team’s recent matches against Tigard and Lakeridge. Playing all around as an outside hitter, Semau’s presence on the court is undeniably impressive. With a 9’5″ approach jump, quick feet, and a strong swing, she was a steady option throughout her team’s games and put the ball away frequently. Not only is Semau a talented hitter, but her serving and defense proved to be consistent and solid, too.
Amber Walker
Amber Walker
Walker has been instrumental for Tigard so far this season. She started the season off with 17 kills against North Salem and has continued to rack up points for her team. Over Tigard’s past couple of matches, Walker notched 13 kills against West Linn and 16 kills against Lake Oswego. Walker is a steady player with a lot of potential to help her team succeed.
After receiving an honorable mention from the Cowapa League last fall for her excellent play as one of Valley Catholic’s rightside hitters, Berndt is one to keep an eye on this season. Valley Catholic’s record so far has been strong – Berndt has no doubt been part of the reason for her team’s success. Her left-handed swing from the left or right side is tricky for other teams to block, and Berndt has learned the art of tooling the ball. She is also a smart player and reads the court well, which has helped her place the ball out of reach from her opponents.
Finley Marine

Only one of three freshman on Portland Christian, Marine has started her first season off with a bang. Marine can jump high and uses her athleticism to be a real asset for the Royals. In her team’s matches this week, Marine showed her ability to adjust well to tough sets and find the openings on the other side of the net. And, while she is a strong hitter, Marine is also quick and steady at defense, which has been a huge benefit for her team. She will be one to watch this season and for her upcoming years at Portland Christian!
Playing on the outside and rightside this season, Hsu-Chen has been a strong and consistent player for OES. Hsu-Chen has great timing, is quick to the ball, and shines on serve receive. In her team’s recent match against Catlin Gabel, Hsu-Chen notched 4 kills; she scored 3 kills against Westside Christian this week.
