Vol. 3 Sophomores: Who is playing really well right now?

These 8 athletes below are making big impacts right now on their high school teams.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='180173' first='Karli' last='Jordan'] - Frisco High School</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If you want to see someone put the hammer on the ball, look no further than [player_tooltip player_id='180173' first='Karli' last='Jordan']. Karli has some insane power behind the ball and soars up and over the block when in system. She is also athletic enough to make the hard defensive play or block at the net. Karli plays for Frisco High School and Mad Frogs Volleyball. She has over 300 assists this season. She was a part of that really good Austin Juniors team this past club season, and has really excelled as a setter and player. Be sure to check out Alexa before the season is over.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='180168' first='Sarah' last='Mendoza'] - Southlake Carroll High School</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gritty defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='180168' first='Sarah' last='Mendoza'] makes the list this time. If you have ever seen her play, you know how gritty she is. Nothing hits the floor when Sarah is in middle back. She touches almost everything that comes over the net, and her reaction time in defense is something you have to see for yourself.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='212736' first='Emma' last='Gonzalez'] - Claudia Taylor Johnson High School</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='212736' first='Emma' last='Gonzalez'] is a S/DS for CTJ High School. She is a very versatile player who can do a lot. She has great court vision and knows the right angles to put behind the ball. She has several digs per game to go along with her 700 career assists.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='180171' first='Cadence' last='McDonald'] - Hebron High School</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lefty right-side [player_tooltip player_id='180171' first='Cadence' last='McDonald'] is having a good sophomore season with Hebron. The 5'10 lefty has good reach and snap on the ball and we have seen her hit a variety of shots from line to deep cross. Cadence can hit well in or out of system. Something special about Cadence is her back-row attack from the right back position that gives her an edge over opponents.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='212737' first='Kimanni' last='Rugley'] - Pearland High School</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Middle hitter [player_tooltip player_id='212737' first='Kimanni' last='Rugley'] is a blocking machine with 147 blocks on the season. The 6'1 middle has been very effective across the front row for Pearland averaging a .400 hitting from the middle. Kimmani has a decent verticle to go with her height and will put the ball away on a good set.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='189341' first='Karina' last='Smith'] - Cy Fair High School</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='189341' first='Karina' last='Smith'] from Cy Fair High School has been playing great recently, grabbing several double-doubles in hitting and digging. The all-around pin hitter brings a lot of ball control to the table for the Bobcats and has been very good from the outside position as well, making very few errors. She is the only sophomore on the team for Cy Fair and she seems to be holding her own.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3>[player_tooltip player_id='178262' first='Mackenzi' last='Davis'] - Melissa</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Melissa's [player_tooltip player_id='178262' first='Mackenzi' last='Davis'] is having a great sophomore season so far. The pin hitter has over 200 kills on the season. Standing at 5'10, she's got a huge height advantage over her blockers. She likes her aggressive swing and will take any chance to use it when in system. She plays with a lot of intensity and passion as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
