This season, Prep Dig is contributing even more to the success of the club season in Texas, bringing as many at three Prep Dig Top 250 Expos to the state, all set to happen during the month of December. These events will not only provide athletes the opportunity to take part in high-level training but also get them invaluable exposure to both our scouts and college coaches who will be in attendance
The first of them will take place at the Southwest Athletic Center, in Carrollton, in the Dallas area, and we’re excited to already have more than 150 of the most interesting athletes of the area registered to take part in it. As we continue to highlight some of the most promising prospects set to get on the court this weekend, it’s time we feature the outside hitters.
A very complete and well-rounded prospect, Coleman is one of those outside hitters who contributed on both sides of the ball. She has the power to overcome opposing blockers, but typically plays smart and finds gaps to hit around the block or simply tool it. Capable of playing on the right too, Coleman is a player who can carry any team’s offense but her great ball control also makes of her a very good passer and defender.
Highlights
Lexi Anderson
Lexi Anderson
Alexis ‘Lexi’ Anderson was one of the most exciting freshmen to emerge in the last high school season while playing for her team Centennial. A player of her size would always draw attention, but what makes of Anderson a special talent is her mobility and coordination on the court. She has a really high contact point, swings hard and can hit from multiple spots, a combination that makes of her a strong offensive weapon. Although she’ll certainly still improve on those areas, Anderson is also a decent passer and defender too.
Sweeney is the true representation of an all-around player as she’s equally productive on both sides of the ball. Her offensive game is really fun to watch as Sweeney is very dynamic and hits a very quick set, either at the pin or more toward the middle, in which she’s particularly effective when tipping or using her inch-perfect roll shots. Her passing is really reliable too especially when she goes overhead.
A long and athletic outside hitter, Barr is a fantastic offensive player. Her size is a big asset, but only because she knows the best ways to use it to score. Barr always fully stretches her arm before swinging, guaranteeing she makes contact with the ball at the highest possible point, and uses her upper body really well to add some extra power to her swings. Another thing she does really well is waiting until the last moment to star her approach, giving her a better chance of adjusting to sets off the net. She also does well with her passing and defense.
The explosive Crayton was another freshman to earn huge attention during the high school season. She’s very complete and well-rounded, but her offense is the area of her game that shines the brightest as it’s built on her outstanding physical tools. Crayton displays a lot of power in her entire offensive actions, from approaching fast to swinging the ball hard, and is a fantastic jumper.
