Cy Ranch vs. Tomball Memorial
Cy Ranch seemed to be in control over all 3 sets in its win over Tomball Memorial. Memorial came out a little shell-shocked in the first set, but bounced back in the next two and played well. Memorial’s libero Astyn Casey finally was able to get some good reads in middle back and passed some very tough balls from Cy Ranch’s hitters. The Mustang’s outsides were in total control in the last 3 sets with huge swings by Bianna Muoneke Bianna Muoneke 6'0" | OH Cy Ranch | 2023 State #80 Nation TX and Taylor Porter Taylor Porter 5'11" | OH Cypress Ranch | 2025 State #85 Nation TX . What stood out to me about Cy Ranch was the athleticism of their middles. They were very good on offense against Tomball Memorial. JaNyah Henderson JaNyah Henderson 5'11" | MB Cy Ranch | 2023 TX , and Tya Lynch Tya Lynch 6'0" | MB Cy Ranch | 2024 State TX both looked very good. Cy Ranch’s also looked very good and collected in pressure and scrappy plays. Blocked balls did not seem to bother them and neither did any chaotic plays. If they can keep this composure against the Woodlands on Thursday, they will be just fine.
Players of the Game
Cy Ranch’s Bianna Muoneke Bianna Muoneke 6'0" | OH Cy Ranch | 2023 State #80 Nation TX was solid all the way around, putting balls away on offense, but she was just as impressive on defense. Cy Ranch definitely depends on her covering a lot of court back there and she is a great defender. I also got the chance to see her top spin jump serve in person, and it was amazing as well.
Tomball Memorial’s Astyn Casey has been solid all season. She struggled a little in serve receive, but defensively she settled in and was a rock on the back row for Memorial. Without her, Memorial couldn’t have made the late run in the 3rd set.
Some other mentionable athletes were Cy Ranch’s setters Kirby Kliafas Kirby Kliafas 5'10" | S Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX and Zora Bello, who played some of the best right-side defense I have seen all year.
Bridgeland vs. Klein Oak
Klein Oak came out hot against Bridgeland and caught them on their heels early in set one. Klein Oak’s middles came out swinging. Freshman Tori Leggerio got the first kill for Oak. It was tied back in forth in set 1, Bridgeland had some trouble with their serve receive but was able to pull it out. Set 2 Bridgeland was in total control of the game, Olivia Waggoner hitting from all over the floor with no defensive answer from Klein Oak. Bridgeland also got their middles involved with Molly McClure hitting very well out of the middle. Overall, Bridgeland’s offense was too diverse and quick for Klein Oak to keep up with. This is not to say Klein Oak played a bad game, they most definitely did not, they just made more errors than Bridgeland. Bridgeland will go on to play Grand Oaks in the area round later this week.
Players of the Game
Klein Oak’s libero Tatum Lockhardt was amazing across the back row for the Panthers all night playing both middle and left back and switching midplay sometimes. She has a great read and can dig a ball with no block with no problem.
Bridgeland’s Olivia Waggoner was easily the player of the game. Her diversity on offense was some of the best I have seen all year, hitting from all over the floor and very rarely missing.
