Here at PrepDig, we are committed to covering and promoting as many prospects as possible, from the most popular names to the hidden gems that typically abound at the Lone Star State and during the high school season we’re also doing it by featuring the teams they play at.
Every time we’re at the gym, we take the time to give a good look at the teams on the court and we’ll try to feature as many as possible here in this space. One of the best teams in the state this season, the Cy Ranch Mustangs were the ones picked today.
The Squad
Cy Ranch had two losses from the team that had a very good campaign last season – libero Kailee Gims and setter Taryn Gilreath Taryn Gilreath 6'0" | S Cy Ranch | 2024 State TX . Still, the Mustangs have a tremendously strong core with Bianna Muoneke Bianna Muoneke 6'0" | OH Cy Ranch | 2023 State #80 Nation TX , Taylor Porter Taylor Porter 5'11" | OH Cypress Ranch | 2025 State #85 Nation TX , Kirby Kliafas Kirby Kliafas 5'10" | S Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX and JaNya Henderson.
Key Players
Muoneke has been one of the most productive and efficient offensive players in the entire state this season. She has excellent range on her offense and tremendous firepower, but has matured enough to know exactly when to turn to tips or finesse plays. Muoneke is very versatile offensively and has excellent decision-making, using her endless possibilities to her advantage. Very solid with her passing, she also has two interesting alternatives from the service line with a floater and a top spin jumpserve.
Playing outside hitter alongside Muoneke, Porter guarantees Cy Ranch will have an elite offensive player at the net. Very long and athletic, she’s an excellent hitter and uses her tremendous vertical and impressive body control to her advantage on offense. Porter is powerful, technical and, most important, makes great decisions. Also capable of playing on the right, she’s very consistent with her passing and has good instincts and good reactions on defense.
Highlights
After several years standing out as an elite libero, Kliafas transitioned to setter this season to fill a position of need for the Mustangs. She runs a fast-paced offense with the team as much as possible, but is very accurate with her locations. Her 5’10” frame and her body control also help her deal with passes too tight to the net. Versatile, Kliafas takes up hitting duties at the net and has manged to score at a very good rate. Needless to say, she’s also an outstanding defender.
Highlights
A transfer from Indiana, Henderson strengthened Cy Ranch in the middle this season. With good size and long arms, she has an excellent blocking presence, playing aggressively at the net, and leads the team in the skill. Her offense is also well-developed as Henderson can hit different sets with great power.
Cy Ranch gets great production in the middle with Henderson and Lynch. Very long and mobile, Lynch is a tremendous blocker. Even when she’s running late, she always takes the time to place her hands correctly, making it very difficult for opposing hitters to tool her. She’s also a very efficient offensive player thanks to her high contact point.
