Several teams have already secured their spots in the next round and some of the matches had spectacular individual performances from some of the most promising prospects in the Lone Star State.
Here are five players who strongly helped their teams continue to move forward:
The Woodlands’ stand out setter was a key element in the team’s sweep of Cy Ranch in one of the most anticipated matchups of the area round in the Houston area. The Highlanders were flawless and much of it had to with how their star player led the team in such a challenging match. As usual, Dewine handled the ball extremely well, but she didn’t limit herself to that, leading the team in assists (23) and kills (15) despite also registering 11 digs and two blocks in her triple-double performance.
Tompkins’ star right side hitter led the team’s reaction against a surprising Cy Creek side that won set one in their area round matchup. Tchouangwa carried the Falcons’ offense with 23 kills (51.1% kill percentage) and also helped in several areas of the game, delivering impressive 26 digs and 17 passes. Her blocking was also on fire as she led the team at the net with five stuffs.
Rouse’s tremendously talented outside hitter showed once again the kind of impact she can have on both sides of the ball in the team’s sweep of Southwest. One of the most technical players in the Austin area, Lopez had a tremendous defensive performance, leading the Raiders in digs (16) and passes (17), but didn’t stop contributing at the net, where she tallied the team’s second-best mark of ten kills.
Trista Boucher

The junior setter had a big performance against Sabinal and led the Bulldogs to the next round of the postseason. The 5’7″ Boucher was all over the court and filled her stat sheet with truly impressive numbers. She was very precise with her ball-handling, tallying 34 assists (averaging north of 11 per set) and also generated seven digs, fired six aces and registered two kills and two blocks.
McKinna Brackens

A talented multi-sport student-athlete, Brackens will continue her career at the collegiate level as a basketball player as she committed to the UNLV. In what could have been her last volleyball match with the Eagles, the outside hitter came up big to push them to victory against the West Trojans. Brackens led all scorers with 20 kills and also got a block, three digs and three passes.
