Carlson, who recently made her comeback after an injury that kept her off the court for nearly two years, did an excellent job playing on the pins during the Expo. Carlson showed off her strong court vision and powerful swing, placing tips and shots onto open court and hitting hard. She also put up a steady block that forced mistakes from hitters on the other side. Although Carlson had an unconventional four years with volleyball, her play on Sunday made it clear that she is an undeniably talented player.

Jones, an athlete out of Idaho who recently was awarded the honor of Co-MVP for the 1A Sawtooth Conference, played strongly throughout the day on Sunday. Jones’s quiet but steady demeanor on the court, combined with her quickness and good court sense, make her a talented setter. And, the fact that she traveled several hours to attend the Expo shows just how passionate Jones is about volleyball.
As the libero for Mazama, Rietdyk is a well-rounded defensive player who showed her steadiness and consistency during the Expo. Rietdyk was quick on defense and picked up several hard-driven balls. She provided great coverage to her hitters and was strong on serve receive, putting up good passes off of some tough serves. Rietdyk did an excellent job commanding the back row throughout the event.
