Continue ReadingThe beautiful thing about some of our Prep Dig Expo events is some of these have a couple of scouts in the building. That is a welcomed addition as we are able to get even more eyes on the athletes in attendance. While there have been some articles shared, it is time to share the athletes that stood out to me at Dynasty ‘ last=”] on the 11th. I have several articles coming your way leading up to the new year. If you see some of the same names in my articles as Austin’s it’s ok. I intentionally didn’t read those yet to share my own point of view. With that said, here are John Q’s Prep Dig KS/MO Expo Standouts.
62 Kennedy Behnke – 5’11” – MB/Pin – Ellinwood, KS – CK Rampage – 2025
The last player to get a bib for the event was the first player to catch my eye on the day. During opening drills, I had to pull her to the side to get her information as I believe she was a walk-up registration. She took advantage of the day and made a name for herself as a very athletic prospect. She came in as an MB, which would make sense considering her size and geographic location but she showed the skill set that can transfer to the pins. She is quick off the floor and can find the floor in all zones of the court. She is an above-average blocker and presses well over the net. As a middle, she showed her ability to play defense and pass from the back row. She is a player who will play at the next level. She had 208 kills for Ellinwood in helping lead them to a 34-4 record.
23 Alyssa Young Alyssa Young 5'8" | DS/L Blue Valley West | 2026 State KS – 5’8″ – DS/L – Blue Valley West – Mavs KC – 2026
I personally try to give the smalls as much love as possible and you can’t help but love Young’s game on the court. She caught my eye due to her ability to get touches on anything in her area. She has tremendous instincts and is the type of player you want navigating your back row. Another thing that stood out was her leadership, meaning how vocal she was on the court. She communicates with whoever she’s on the court with, which isn’t easy in these types of environments. Another strength I saw on the day was her 2nd ball sets to her hitters. A high percentage of the time they were placed in perfect locations for the hitters to swing and not be either trapped or way off the net. As a freshman, she saw action in over 80 sets for state qualifier Blue Valley West and had 120 digs.
61 Audrey Wills Audrey Wills 5'8" | S Olathe East | 2025 State KS – 5’8″ – S – Olathe East – PVA – 2025
Wills stood out for me early in the day as one of the solid setters in the building. She appeared poised and in control throughout the morning. She has really good hands and touch on her sets. I was impressed with her set location throughout the day. As a potential setter in a one-setter offense, she showed she is talented defensively from the right back position. She has a great reaction to balls coming in her direction. In the front row, she has good jumping ability and was able to get touches on balls on the pin. In her sophomore season, she led her team in assists with 409 in 87 sets.
66 Addison Lindermann Addison Lindermann 5'5" | DS/L Lee's Summit West | 2025 State MO – 5’8″ – DS/L – Lee’s Summit West – Dynasty ‘ last=”] – 2025
Another defender we took a liking to early in the day was the 5’8″ Lindermann competing in her home gym at Dynasty ‘ last=”]. She is quick on the court and covers a lot of real estate. She anticipates well and her first set allows her to get to balls many would have to just look at. Her ability to get to the deep corners on the court was impressive, and not only get to them but pass them where the setter could deliver quality sets to the hitters. She had 145 digs in her sophomore season for Lee’s Summit West.
43 Kaylee Chisholm Kaylee Chisholm 5'3" | S Oak Grove | 2025 State MO – 5’3″ – S – Oak Grove High School – Club North – 2025
Chisholm was the smallest player on the court she was on but her game was big and loud during the morning sessions. What she lacks with the size she picks up with grit and skill. As a setter, she had some of the best hands we saw on the day. Due to her height, she was remarkable with her jump-setting ability. She reminds me of former Lansing and Dynasty ‘ last=”] Academy setter Caitlin Bishop, who after leading Lansing to multiple state tournament runs set her team to an NCAA Division II Final Four appearance. Chisholm’s placement was consistently on for the day and even bounced back after getting knocked off the court for a minute after a collision. She was the leader in assist at Oak Grove this fall.
42 Ashlee Chavez Ashlee Chavez 5'9" | RS St. James | 2025 State KS – 5’10” – RS – St. James – Power ‘] – 2025
Chavez is a player we knew a little about already but her game continues to evolve as seen throughout the day. We knew she could score from the right pin but her shots are improved in both selection and placement. Another area of improvement I noticed was her quickness in transitioning off the net after a block attempt. She did a good job of making herself available for an attack. Her back-row defense looked really good on the day and as she adds consistent back-row attack opportunities, she will be a force to be reckoned with.
77 Elpfania Salamasina – 5’11” – RS – Fort Osage – Dynasty ‘ last=”] – 2025
No pressure but Salamasina can be “that girl”. Her physicality and athletic ability make her a pretty good prospect in my eyes. When I saw her early she was primarily in the middle but she can probably play on either pin at the next level. Her footwork is a thing of beauty and matched with her quickness she is always an option for an attack. She swings with Power and scores at will on quick sets. Defensively, she really goods up and presses over the net and challenges attackers. Keep your eye on this one. She led her team in kills this fall with over 170.
45 Gabrielle Clinkscale Gabrielle Clinkscale 5'8" | OH Ladue Horton Watkins | 2025 State MO – 5’8″ – OH – Ladue Horton Watkins – Rockwood Thunder – 2025
Clinkscale was easily one of the most athletic attackers in the gym. At only 5’8″, she plays well above the net and uses that bounce to soar and score over defenders. She doesn’t go up timid and lets the ball rip when she can. You also love her ability to tool the hands when necessary to score a point.
39 Kendall Brueggen – 5’10” – OH – Hesston – Air Capital Aces – 2025
One thing you look for in pins in their tool kit of shots and that’s what stood out when watching Brueggen compete. Her array of shots was amazing and that’s something you want and need in a go-to scorer. At 5’10”, she has true bounce and can get up off the floor. She looked good at the net defensively as well and used that jumping ability to get a couple of solo blocks on the day. She averaged over 4 kills per set in her sophomore season and should be getting some calls from colleges if they are smart.
