The Prep Dig Top 250 Expo’s were on full display this past weekend. There were over 300 players from all over the great state of Texas and surrounding states that participated in this wonderful event. Volleyball is a true team sport in that it takes every single player to help a team compete. However, every team across all of the age groups has one or two players that are considered “Game Changers”. This moniker is given to those that literally change the dynamic of each team and give their squad a fighting chance to win. After watching all of these wonderful players during the two and a half hour event, these were the players that I witnessed to be considered a true Game Changer for the Houston Session I Expo:
Kennedi Rogers Kennedi Rogers 5'10" | OH Ridge Point | 2025 State #57 Nation TX [2025] 5-10 Outside (HS: Ridge Point/Club: Absolute Volleyball Academy/ Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kennedi is currently ranked as the 15th best overall prospect in the state according to the 2025 Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays on the pins for Ridge Point High School and now plays for Absolute Volleyball Academy. I wrote an article on her recently and here is what I stated, “It is only a matter of time when I update the State Rankings because she will be my first addition for sure. She proved all season long just how lethal she is on the court. Kennedi can score from anywhere front row or back row and also has a stunning serve. “Big Game” Kennedi is someone who I am very high on after working with her at our showcase earlier in Orlando. BG is legit and deserves every accolade that she receives in this sport.” I have watched this young lady blossom into a total Game Changer and the entire country should know her name. She was the best outside hitter in the entire gym on Sunday and it wasn’t even close. Her natural athleticism and raw power were on full display for every position drill and scrimmage. While most power hitters usually just want to hit the home run ball every time, Miss Rogers has an amazing off-speed shot that she scores at will with because everyone respects her power shot. I see her moving up the rankings for sure when I update them this month.
Cali Reece Cali Reece 5'7" | DS/L Grand Oaks | 2026 State TX [2026] 5-4 Libero (HS: Grand Oaks/Club: TAV Houston/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Cali is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that will change once I update them next month. She has been on my watch list since I watched her this past high school season. She plays at Grand Oaks High School and plays club for TAV Houston. What I truly love when we are scouring the country for new players to add to the State Rankings is when we see some old school players who are not afraid of big moments. Due to her production on the court she was on, I decided to move her to the top court and she did not disappoint with her play. Some players can turn it on when they need to when the going gets tough and Miss Reece certainly did that when she stepped onto court one. Her level of play rose to the occasion and she proved that she belonged at the that level. Her foot-speed, ability to extend her range well beyond her reach, and her soft touch on hard driven balls were the main reasons why I considered her a true Game Changer. She will give any team that she is on an opportunity to win any match because she will not let the ball hit the floor if it is anywhere near her zone.
Shea Bruntmyer Shea Bruntmyer 5'8" | S Abilene Christian | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-8 Setter (HS: Abilene Christian School/Club: Tejas/Verbal: Pepperdine)
She is currently on our Watch List as a prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings and will be added once I update them this month. She plays at Abilene Christian High School and also club for Tejas volleyball club. She is currently committed to Pepperdine and showcased those collegiate level skills throughout the entire two and a half hours on Sunday. The ball comes out of her hands so quickly and smoothly. There is not a set that she can’t hit the bulls eye on repeatedly. When you watch her in drills and during scrimmages, you see someone who will not let her team go down without a strong fight. When you have a player who is ready to give everything they have for the betterment of the team, that is a game changer. That is exactly the type of player that Shea is. She will be a game changer for Pepperdine when she arrives on campus in a few years, but in the meantime we will love covering her junior and senior seasons.
Chloe Morgan Chloe Morgan 6'0" | MB Barbers Hill | 2024 State TX [2024] 6-0 Middle (HS: Barbers Hill/Club: TAV Houston/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Chloe is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our watch list. She plays at Barbers Hill High School and also club for Texas Advantage Volleyball Houston. When you have a middle who can be a shut down blocker due to her lateral foot speed and amazing athleticism, that is a real game changer. She is a member of the famed ten foot club meaning she can approach touch over ten feet in the air. This kind of explosive bounce helps her on the offensive end also. I watched that bounce be very difficult for opposing middles to stop during the scrimmage drills on Sunday. She was also very efficient with her scoring as she routinely was able to turn on the ball in mid-air and hit around the block to both corners very well. There is a reason why her district named her newcomer of the year. She is proving on the court that you should know her name.
