Houston Stop 1 Top 250 Expo: Outsides to Watch

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we are 24 hours away from our first event in Houston, let's talk about outside hitters. Lots of outsides from a round the state will be in attendance tomorrow. Below we will highlight some new Houston faces we are excited to see as well as some names from outside of the Houston area.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='177543' first='Kara' last='Wynn'] / Junior / Austin Skyline</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='177543' first='Kara' last='Wynn'] was a huge contributor to her high school team, Hendrickson, this season. Her size and athletic ability make her a force at the net. Kara has the ability to find the court when she hits and has a good range of swings that allow her to find open pockets to score in. Her height at 5'11 makes her a sizable opponent, and she is a decent blocker to go along with it!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='254284' first='Olivia' last='Jones'] / Sophomore / AVA</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='254284' first='Olivia' last='Jones'] had a stand-out year for her school team Clear Creek. While she doesn't have a lot of height, she plays with a confidence that is bigger than that number. She is very quick and has a fast arm swing and snap. She often beats the block with that combination. She has a solid volleyball IQ, and she knows where and when to place the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='232845' first='Shaniya' last='Harris'] / Freshman / [program_tooltip program_id='431166' first='Houston' last='Juniors']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The only freshman on the list is outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='232845' first='Shaniya' last='Harris']. Super explosive on the jump, high contact point, and a heavy arm make for a really solid swing for Harris. She has a ton of energy which carries over to her team. She is a great blocker as well. It will be fun to see how Harris stacks up against these upperclassmen!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='87551' first='Devyn' last='Lewis'] / Senior / AVA</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='87551' first='Devyn' last='Lewis'] is a 6 rotation outside for AVA. She has considerable size standing at 6'1. While she's not the most energetic player, she is smart and silently aggressive in her offense. Her defensive game has gotten much better since her sophomore season, and she is a real contributor playing 6 rotations.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='179873' first='Carrington' last='Cook'] / Junior / [program_tooltip program_id='431166' first='Houston' last='Juniors']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='179873' first='Carrington' last='Cook'] is a heavy-hitting pin hitter from [program_tooltip program_id='431166' first='Houston' last='Juniors'] and successful Ridgepoint High School. While I haven't seen her in person this year, I have seen the offensive contribution she made to her high school team, and the energy she brings while on the court. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='254075' first='Bailey' last='Gittens'] / Sophomore / TAV Houston</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another Bridgeland stand-out [player_tooltip player_id='254075' first='Bailey' last='Gittens'] will get an opportunity to showcase her skill this weekend. She has a lot of potential and works hard in the gym. She has an aggressive approach to the ball and a nice snap, and she has been improving her serve receive, and defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
